I am trying to lose weight and this morning all I had was an orange. The past week I have been eating oatmeal and toast. One morning I had oatmeal and a banana. This morning I wanted something different because I am getting sick of oatmeal. I decided to eat an orange and it satisfied me until lunch that is. Then at lunch time I planned on eating chicken noodle soup but it is hotter than I expected and didn't want to eat soup on a hot day. So I made macaroni and cheese instead. Maybe I should have chosen a healthier option other than macaroni and cheese. I ended up eating more macaroni and cheese than I should have, then I ate a small bowl of Ice cream. It's not really bad but I ate more than I should have. I thought I was starting the day right and only ended up to eat a bigger and unhealthy lunch!

My trainer once said that at breakfast, eat like a king. At lunch, eat like a middle-class man. At dinner, eat like a beggar. And make sure to engage in activities that will burn the calories you have taken. We get fatter if we eat a lot and then burned only a fraction of the calories.

Some people say we should eat a big breakfast and lunch, and have a light dinner. This is what works for me, at least. We are having a "The Biggest Loser" competition in the office and I'm trying to win the prize money. I eat the normal amount during the day, then little at night. I find it hard to stop eating donuts, chocolate bars, and other sweets. But, I have no problem giving up meat. Luckily for me, my weight really drops when I have a no-meat diet. On the initial weigh-in I was 65 kilos (143lbs) and on the 2nd weigh-in I was 60 kilos (132 lbs) so it's really working. I just eat vegetables and rice, the staple food here. No pork, beef, chicken, or fish. At least I still get to eat the stuff I really like.

You are right, you should eat a big breakfast and lunch then a small dinner. I usually do eat a big breakfast but I didn't have a lot of breakfast food in my house today so I just ate a small breakfast plus I thought it couldn't hurt to eat a smaller portion but I guess it backfired on me. Anyway, it is good that you can still eat the stuff you really like. Congrats on your weight loss and good luck to continue.

Why are you reducing your breakfast? That's the one meal that you can pretty much go crazy on (with healthy foods, of course) because that's the food that kickstarts your metabolism. If you're hungry in the morning (which I'm not, I actually get physically sick if I eat too soon after waking up) then have a big healthy breakfast. Have smaller lunches and dinners, but snack on fruits or even veggies all throughout the day. Instead of a bag of chips, have a bag of crunchy baby carrots! :3 But it's not all about the food and portion sizes, you also have to take into account your exercise and how physically active you are. There are online sites with various daily activities (like 30 minutes of standing, or 30 minutes of walking) and how many calories they typically burn. You can check off what applies to you and it will calculate how many calories you may be burning, and that can tell you how many calories to cut back on, or how many calories you should be burning off!

I know. I just messed up today. I have been eating healthy and still getting into the routine of it. I guess it is a slip up on my part. I'm not going to let this defeat me though, just will eat a healthy bigger breakfast tomorrow. Yeah I am already in a site that allows me to count calories and shows me the exercise programs that burns off calories. That is only part of it though, the rest is up to me to actually follow through!

i think you're doing it the wrong way. you should eat a hearty breakfast. it is during the night time that you should eat less.

I think you should try to eat big breakfast in the morning and less at night and a middle in the afternoon. Breakfast is the meal that supports us all during the day and one should have healthier breakfast in the morning.
