How to get rid of rats organically / myLot

I am icky about using chemicals around the house. I just think it is harmful to people's health and to the environment. I am also paranoid about improving the immunity of pests despite that people have been convincing me this is not true. So I am hoping that I can get some tips on how do you get rid of pests in an organic manner.

Having a cat might be a good idea. This is truly organic because the cat will keep the rats away and it is harmless to the environment. Some dogs do go after rats too. I have a friend whose German Shepard does that.

thanks for the suggestion. believe me you are not the first one to say it. my problem is that my nose gets irritated when i have pets in the house.
