Summer has arrived and my laptop's palm rest is made up of alluminium body and this whole alluminium body is getting heated up! The situation is that the alluminium body gets all its heat from the sink fan as it is also present above the sink fan and transfers the heat from sink fan to the entire alluminium body which includes palm rest area. Any soulution? My laptop is an ASUS K53sM

have you tried a cooling fan? does it help with your laptop when you are using it? i have an asus too and it gets hot too on the palm rest area but it is not often, and when i am in an air conditioned room... it does not heat up as much as it would when i am not in the room. Have you checked if your fan is working already?

That is exactly what happens with me. If I'm in an Air conditioned room the palm rest won't get heated up that much but when I'm in a warm room it gets heated up quickly. Yes, my laptop fan is working fine.

Put it in a place where the sun is not so intense. Or this will kinda make it look ugly but put some heat tape on it

My laptop is not under sunlight. I operate it only in my room. What do you mean by heat tape and where I can get it?

Well from what I can guess the vents on the bottom are being blocked you could also see if you can turn the fans up to keep the machine cooler. The big thing is that it is likely a vent is blocked up. Also what are you doing? Are you doing something that is CPU or GPU intensive. As if you are doing these things with a blocked vent the machine will get hot. Also as the machine is made of Aluminium it will pick up on the heat of the sun hitting it or being in an area of direct sunlight.

The laptop is at no load at all. Just browsing internet or watching a movie and my laptop is not under direc sunlight. IT IS PICKING UP HEAT FROM THE SINK FAN OUTLET OF MY LAPTOP. THE ALLUMINIUM BODY JUST PASSES ABOVE IT.

Laptop Fan - A very useful and portable gadget to have working in warm environment with your laptop.
First of all, if you are in a warm work environment, you must make sure that you do not overclock your laptop but if you cannot help it for personal reasons then take the necessary precautions. 1. Never work on your bed without a hard surface like a serving table. A lot of overheating incidents have happened where the soft sheets actually did more harm to the laptop where it has known to block the air vents. 2. Good ventilation Your workplace should be away from direct sunlight and well ventilated. It would help if your work is near the window to have a curtain or shades and table fan if possible. 3. Laptop fan (see picture) I find this gadget quite useful irregardless of which warm environment I am in, I can be assured that my laptop will not have heating problems. Very convenient and cheap too. It uses USB for power and you can bring it with you wherever you go.

Hi, If all things are normal like heat vents and inside fans on the laptop working as they should, there is no other alternative but to beat the summer heat by going to a cooler place like under a tree with the fresh breeze from the sea or the lake. You may consider sealing your room and installing an air conditioning system to cool down the ambient temperature. Summer heat can really get on our nerves and on the inner workings of a computer.
