I know some people who are particular of how their groceries go in the bag. For myself I don't care, jsut as long as they don't get smushed, like say my tomatoes ontop of a jug of juice. I went to the store for veggies, now I paid $26 for veggies for the animals. Yes, they are for animals but the price of them you be gentle. I was ready to slap this lady out. She starting throwing them around. She ripped half my lettuce up just putting it in the bag which goes bad faster within a few hours, tomotoes squishes (they were for soup as they were clearance onces, and 1 for a sandwhich). I just walked out fuming, I am going in tomorrow to ask for the leftover bad veggies, so not like I could rip her face off. This lady is always so rude, my Mom sys she has no problems with her but she has this ignorent hate her life type. I am asking this store, and the store the next town over about the veggies. Hopefully they say they will, I will bring up the shelter as well.

A bagel like that would not last long and one of our stores here in the US. They are taught how to bag groceries. If they work to bag groceries like tat, they would not last a day at our Ingles Market. One young girl was checking us out, and we had a $500'plus order and the girl said something about never seeing so much food. You don't say stuff like that to a customer who is spending money and paying their wages. My daughter went off on her. The manager was right there and heard it. The next time we went to the store tat cashier wasn't there. She hasn't been there since. You just don't make rude remarks about what customers buy.

Too bad she isn't, you could've told her you know of someone who has rang up $800 worth of groceries for one person. No you don't say things like that. My goodness, our training included even sharing recipes, etc. I suppose she was younger though, and that was a lot of groceries for her to handle, but even so... Usually in my head I am thinking "dang I wish I could afford this much in groceries!" but I don't even dare say that out loud for fear of offending them.

I've had people put a pie in on its side, only to have half of it slide to the "bottom". A frozen pie can withstand this, but not a fully cooked one! What a mess. And in the days when they didn't gouge you for the bags, they'd use more than necessary. I would repack my groceries and give them back two or three empty bags.

when it comes to pies and cakes, cupcakes and fruit trays, if it's too big or just awkward I ask if they want a bag at all. A lot of times they say no. If they say yes I tell them there is a chance it could slide when I try to gingerly put it in.

I have had a few ask about cakes, and such before as well. This lady just slammed them in, and things were falling out. Seeing as I went today and asked about veggies, tehy said no so I called head office on her.

Is it not honored if one will report that woman to the management. Here in the Philippines, if you are like that, the customers can report you to management which will surely reprimand her for this bad trait. It is important that customers be treated rightly.

You should'v taken down the lady clerk/bagger! LOL! You should've brought it up immediately to the manager so they lady would be responsible for damaged goods. Don't let anyone ruin your good because you are the customer and money is so important it shouldn't be spend for something you didn't break but was caused by the store's employee. I would highly suggest you to form a formal complaint and insist for the lady's apology. Someone should teach her a lesson or stand up to her because she can ruin the whole store. Like a single rotten tomato inflicting disease the fresh ones. ;)

I am with you, I don't want my groceries squished either. It doesn't matter how they go in the bag but, there is common sense to the whole thing. Heavy items on the bottom and lighter items on the top. Fruits and veggies should be bagged separately. What's crazy is the fact that whenever you get a position in a store and you bag groceries you are trained. As far as the rude employee, try to avoid her if you can. I know its hard to do since there are times when rude ignorant people seem to gravitate to you (I have that problem as well). Its like you are a magnet. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. Maybe she is going through something or maybe she is just old and bitter. Try being overly nice, maybe nice/nasty, or maybe you just have to straight nasty with her. You go in and spend your hard earned money, you shouldn't be treated like crap.

I think it is always good to go to shop where the people are nice. I hope that you go store where people are nice to you. I think it is good to take leftover vegetables for animals.

Hello Ricki. I take my own shopping bags with me to the supermarket. I put light things like bread in a material bag. I put heavy things at the bottom of my large shopping bags like dog food and fruit juices. I always put fruit and vegetables at the top. Then they don't get broken. I am not surprised you went out of there fuming because the shop assistant took no care. Well done for saying you will ask for left over veggies for your animals. It is a shame that lady acts in such a rude way.

I try to take my own bags, but sometimes don't have enough or forget them at home.

You should call back before they close tonight and tell the manager on duty. The cashier who rang you up doesn't own the business and can't say no to you about asking for their left over veggies. That being said, if she does this to you, regardless of if she does this to your mom or not, she may be doing this to other people. There is a way to pack fruits and veggies, and apparently this woman has no care about it. She should. I'm certain if common sense isn't enough, then they've trained her on it as well.

That was very rude of her to do that. I would have told her let me bag it. This is why I love to be able to pack my own groceries. I can't stand it when there is someone else working there at the store that does the packing. They either put only one item in the bag so I have a bunch of bags with one item inside it. The other thing they do is too many thing in one bag that does not belong together. Such as veggies with bread or cakes. Or the box items with bottles. I just rather do it myself because I know how I want my groceries packed.
