Craft Fairs/Shows--are they worth the time and effort

I have been crafting for many years. Some say I am quite good as I design as well. I have been told that I should start going to craft shows/fairs. My question is, how successful have they been for those that have participated in one before? What items sell?

I think that it sort of depends on the area as to what is likely to sell. Also, pricing makes a difference. If you have at least some lower priced items, you are likely to pick up sales from some people who are on the fence about splurging on an item.
It's worth trying it out. Find an event in your region that wouldn't cost you much to set up at but has a record of drawing a decent crowd.

I was thinking of having some lower priced items like in the $5 and under range but also a few mid price items as well as higher priced ones (like afghans, etc). I was also thinking of having a notebook with items I had finished but didn't have to show so I could take orders as well.
Most of the places to rent a space are rather pricey here and I just want to recoup my fees for table rental, etc and also hopefully make a few bucks in the process.

I have been doing craft sales for many years....I think they are worth it. I sell a ton of things...but that is not the case for many. I sell unique things....paper crafts...framed poetry....things like that and not the normal kind of things other sell....so I do very well. Having something different is the key to great success. And I keep adding something new for those who are good customers....they can't wait to see what I come up with next!
