a drinking water myth

There is this myth that drinking more water means the toxins will be really cleared out. It was in the news that this is not true , because in truth drinking large amounts of water will actually reduce the ability of the kidneys to function as a filter. My mother in-law keeps insisting to my father-in-law to drink almost 3 glasses of water whenever he takes his medicines. She said it will help well in keeping his kidneys clean . They bicker on this, because my father in-law would complain that he feels so bloated since he has drank 2 glasses already. Now, I have to print this rebuttal on the said myth so I can show it to her that it isn’t true. I hate seeing my in-laws always bickering about this. i do not know where to stand by this discussion but i want to share something that government employees need to have an annual check-up. it is a requirement for them to know if they are healthy or not. but that is the issue here, i mean, that the doctors need to examine their urine. one teacher drinks lots of water. what happened was that, she did not passed the urinalysis it is because her urine is too clear. the doctor said that our urine must be a little bit yellowish. this yellowish urine contains bacteria that will fight bad bacteria in our organ. that is the work of it. so that is why, we need not to eliminate what we have in our internal parts by drinking water i guess, for our body needs bacteria to fight bad ones. me, when i am drinking lots of water as what i experienced before and when i do it now - i will get fatter, really. and i do not know why. maybe because i have a water resistance. instead i will remove it or sweat it, it will stay in every part of my body. i need to exercise :)

I think you need to drink enough water, but plan on doing it throughout the day. Do not drink an extreme amount at any one time, but a glass in the morning and with each meal is good. Drink one full glass with medications as well.

Anything which we eat or drink too much is obviously not good. Water also has to be taken in quantities which are sufficient for us. What is sufficient for one person need not be sufficient for another person. Each person has got different body structure. Yes, there are many who say we should drink plenty of water, but nobody tells us that too much water is actually harmful to health.

Hi, We should drink enough water . We should not drink more than enough water because it is not good for our health. Drinking more water forcibly is not good. Your in laws should not drink water more. You should show this link to your in laws. It would be good for them. Thank you for sharing useful information.

Actually, i told my mother-in-law this myth rebuttal when she was again insisting that my father-in-law take another glass of water even if he has already drank 2 glasses of it already. She stopped and kept quiet. From then on, she doesn't insist anymore.

You see it is said that a healthy normal person should drink at least 6 liters of waters in a day. However, those suffering from some diseases like kidney problem etc., should avoid taking more water. They should go by Doctor's advice. I drink a lot of water in a day to keep myself healthy.

That makes sense. I remember reading something also that too much liquid intake could affect our blood's density. I have to go find that article i think that the amount of water varies per person. I mean, physical size and stuff should be taken into consideration. Anyways, good luck mediating in your in-laws bickerings. Some times it's hard to convince people to change their long-held beliefs

Yeah, specially that they are oldies and would insist in what they know. But last night i told them about it and my MIL was speechless and didn't insist that FIL take a second glass of water.

I think there are various opinions on this issue, so better to follow middle path, not too much not too less. While eating i keep drinking water every now and than because i feel i will choke, here the doctors say, one should not drink water while eating, bite each mouthful of food for 5-10 minutes so that the saliva gets mixed well and then swallow with half glassful of water only.

WE are encouraged to drink 8 glasses of water everyday. I have found that to be hard although I do drink that much in liquids. I don't think it might be all that good to drink that much with medicines as it could wash the medicine right out.

Do the eskimos drink water ? How much water do people drink in the cold countries during winter time ? Average drinking of water varies even in hot/tropical countries having difference in humidity. Besides the drinking amount also varies seasonally in the same place. It is a fact that water helps to wash the toxin from the body but that does not mean all the toxin can be washed away by water.Actually what happens that water from the digestive system is slowly absorbed into the blood which again in its turn filtered through the kidneys and the filtrate pass out as urine through the usual channel. The more you drink water , the liability of the kidney will be higher to flush out the water but it should be kept in mind that where there occurs lots of sweat during the summer, the extra water come out of the pores of the skin. Those who suffer from kidney disease, it is advised by the doctors that they should take that amount of water which is absolutely essential and not an extra drop.Regard being had to this conception the amount of water which should be taken by an individual is subject to the prevailing condition of the kidney, the seasonal requirement and finally according to the thirst. If one is not thirsty, the person will hate to drink water. A diseased person must consult the physician to know the exact quantity of water to be taken by him/her.

average intake of water shd be atleast 2-3 l.old people shd chek for water overloading.we shd never drink such a large quantity at a time,we shd sip at it,so that it reaches all tissues(tissue perfusion),$ will be more effective in removing toxins from the body.

Yes, that should be the proper way indeed, my friend. We do not want to interfere with the filtering of our kidney , so let's just drink enough water one at a time.
