Why Do I Get MY Best Ideas In The Middle Of The Dang Night?

Drives me crazy, never fails. I stay up all night working, sleep in, get up, do what I normally do all day, and then, still sitting infront of the computer at 5 AM (today is no exception!!) I am on such aroll that I can't seem to stop. Today I designed a set of promotional post cards for a business I'm running, then decided to design a coffee mug, and do a few other things. I need to get some sleep, but here I am rolling along. I guess once I've built up momentum, it's just too hard to slow down. Anyone else ever have this problem? How do you tear yourself away from the momentum you've built up, and settle down to go to sleep?

The best way to dealis just finish up then sleep. Yu won't be able to rest with those ideas rushing through your head anyways.

Sometimes I do get my best idea's in bed....and I either write them down or get up and just do it. I have several ideas that I did get while in bed and got up first thing in the morning and did them....but the ideas sometimes do cause sleeplessness.

It sounds to me like being tired or lack of sleep loosens up your creative abilities. For me it is the opposite. I have too many things that take me away from what I am trying to do and that just ruins the process for me. Since you can sleep when you get around to it, this sounds like it works really well for you.

Sounds like the norm around here! I can be out all evening, come home to the computer and be busy for hours and not get to bed until long after I should. I generally remind myself when I have to get up in the morning........or later in the morning, as it were, and that takes me to bed. Sometimes I lay in bed with the mind still going, but try to disassociate with it so I can get some sleep.

Getting over excited will surely make going to sleep close to impossible.
I have another thing happen to me, in the sense that I get good ideas when in bed, just before falling asleep, which I suppose is as a result that I have all my concentration available for use during this time, but it is a bit annoying as If I don't get up to write it down, I usually forget them.

simple answer-because it's annoying, and the brain is evil.
i was like that the other day-the ideas kept coming, next thing i know it's 6:30 am..
as far as tearing myself away-usually by 6:30,lil mouths are hungry and will remind me as such with a very annoyed meow..

If it I really could not make something right away, I do jot down all the ideas I get on my notebook and try ton work on it first thing in the morning.

It's amazing to know how creative you are and it's even wonderful that you are able to drive your creativity in the right direction. Late night and early morning are the best times when our mind and the surroundings are both peaceful and also we don't have any other work engagements like daytime. You are doing exceedingly brilliant work, but always remember that our body also needs our attention and care. It is very important to get a sound sleep of 6-7 hours daily. You need to control your work momentum as you wouldn't be able to retain it for a long time without proper rest. Do take some sleep, eat nutritious food, and go for a small walk and you'll feel the work momentum coming in control.
I have experienced this many times, but I just tell to myself this is not the last day of my life. I have another day and I can do this work tomorrow. For now, I need to wind up my day and take some rest for a fresh start tomorrow. This is how I discipline my work stimulation and control my working momentum.

Because the nights are more quit, there are less people who can disturb you plus at daytime you probably are way too busy to think out something good. Personally I dont see it as a problem. I like the nights and the dark.

Yeah, I also experience that sometimes. Like now, lol. Before, I can just post a comment for a minimum of five but as I assess myself right now, I almost answered more than 30 started discussions lol knowing that I already worked for almost nine hours for my regular work. I just feel hungry but I can still handle it and can comment more. What the energy!!!

Yes it happens sometime too me also when i am very busy sometimes, at that time i never feel that its the time of sleep and i should go on bed.First i just finish my work and then i think about sleep. But i would suggest you to take proper sleep but less sleep is not good for our health and we should sleep enough everyday..

You should have lived with my daughter. She would get her ideas in dreams and just random thoughts, then when she went to write them down they were gone. It would drive her crazy and sometimes she would just throw a fit.
Other times she would start writing then skip all over the place on the story she was writing. We would read what she wrote and she would go from the very beginning of the story to like five days later to the end in three pages. She's a great writer when she puts her mind to it but her thoughts get jumbled at times or she looses them and it upsets her greatly. She still does it now.

Well , i guess in the silent of the night , where there is not much distraction and the air is fresher where the light is dimmer , and when the fresh batch of human hormone flushing into the system. Therefore the last mile refresh the mind. But beware the after the last mile , the body may clash into deep sleep or headache.Burning the midnight oil for too long is not good , it can overheat the body.
