I'm going to start applying for jobs

As soon as I am capable of a way back and forth from work, I'm going to start applying for jobs. I'm planning on applying for administrative assistant positions. I would like to work in HR, possibly a human resource generalist or specialist. The problem is that I am not qualified for those positions yet. So I am hoping I can start out as an administrative assistant to gain experience, finish college, and then will apply for HR jobs.

There are many available positions online. You can try that out if you want so you don't have to worry about transportation costs.
It's good to hear that you're willing to start at the bottom and eventually work your way up on top. It shows your willingness to learn and work hard in order to succeed.
Good luck and I do wish you success! :)

I see you are still studying because you have said, you need first to finish college. But still you can become a working student. Maybe, you can arrange your time in school. During the day, you can go to work. Then at night have yourself go to school. With this, you can have both. I know this maybe hard, but I think you can do it. Be strong and be confident always..

Thank you. That is my plan. It will be hard and a lot of work but I know I can do it. I can still take classes and I won't be reaching the limit until a couple of months from now. Unless they change something. At least they are helping though and I can take the majority of the classes with the help.

I can relate to that, because during my college days. I am a working student as well. During my 3rd until last year in college. I go to work during the day and go to school at night. Although it was very tiring and consumes a lot of time. You must be responsible enough about your time management. I am proud of you, for being so persistent on your studies. I know you can achieve your dreams and have a good work in the future.

This sounds like a good plan. I think you can be successful by starting out at the bottom and working your way up, and the experience will make you a better management candidate.

It makes it hard to get anywhere, because even if you know you can do the job, you can't show them this because you don't have a degree so they won't even interview people.

How very true. I used to tell my sons to never quit learning. Knowledge is very valuable. There are many places on the internet where you can learn different things and they are free. I am going to learn another language that way. Keep your great attitude about bettering yourself. It will pay off.

We actually have the same goal in life. I wanted the same profession but the thing is I am a graduate of a different course. I am planning to enroll again while I am waiting for the position to be vacated. Actually, in our office, I think that in 4-5 years, one of our Administrative Officers will retire so I really need to hurry so I would be able to prepare myself before that time comes. I hope you'll be able to pursue your plans in life.

Good luck finding work and I am sorry that you cannot continue your education. I wish there was a way you could continue your schooling. Can you apply for scholarships to help you pay for school? Are there any private loans you can take out? I wish you all the best.

I have tried for scholarships but have received nothing. The problem with the private loans is that my credit is bad, would need a co-signer and they have horrible interest rates. I am not willing to get a private loan unless absolutely necessary. I already owe enough already for college, not looking to go into even more debt. Thanks for the suggestion though.

That's the best thing you are about to, I guess. Before applying for any job you should better get experienced in the particular field so that you would go up well with it. In my case, its all about writing so i concentrate more on writing and that is also one of the reason where I am here on Mylot. :-)

One of the most important things that you should pursue is to finish your education. This way you would be able to apply for a job that you want. However, if this is not possible as of now, then maybe looking for a job where you might be qualified is a better option.
Have a great day!

I wish for nothing but success for you, I have been looking for over a year and nothing unless I want to drop down to entry level positions which would mean less pay, less responsibility, and complete grunt work.
Good Luck I hope you find something soon.

I'm studying for a minor in HR now. I am getting an education in HR. I'm planning or at least thinking of taking electives in HR as well. I've not made up my final decision but I have even thought about getting a degree in HR as well as my other degrees. The problem is that I need experience, and work, and income to finish and get these degrees. I also don't want to be in school forever but I am willing to work at it, especially if it lands me a good job with decent pay and benefits. I would love to have a job that I enjoy. I've never really had a job that I actually like and want to work.

This is a good decision and plan . It is alright to have an assistant job as of now since you are still studying . It serves as a stepping stone for you in your future career

This is so true! It will help later in the future for my career. Everyone has to start somewhere. It might not pay as well as I would like, but at least I am trying. I would rather be in this field than retail which is where my first job was at, well other than babysitting. Neither paid real good and both sucked. I'm glad to have this opportunity.

yea its better for someone if he or she has not the certified degree yet and he or she wants to do desired job, dont waste time and get experience through to do other jobs, because its always good to keep urself busy in work..it will pay you in two ways ..first u will get money and secondly will get experience.

I would like to gain experience in the field I want to work in but that might not be possible right now. Hopefully it will be possible soon though. I will keep looking and trying. Yeah, I have my first degree and I am working on my second. It takes time and work, not to mention dedication.

Good luck. It may be hard but worth it. I know a lot of careers are hard, especially now. It takes so much time to study, then you need to gain experience. If you love it though and you have a passion for it you will enjoy it and it won't feel like work. A lot of people hate their jobs. Hopefully you will enjoy your job.

Good plan, nothing is impossible just do it, your willingness to work is your number one asset and with your educational background it will be a tandem to push you to success.
