As alot of you fellow Mylotters I work, from time to time,at a horse stable. I usually just feed but today I also cleaned stalls! It wore me out! I have done this before and I don't know if I should volenteer to do both if asked again! It didn't help I had to work my full-time job after that! That made it worse! Having to walk through muddy pastures to feed hay to the horses was not fun, either! Being overweight and having acid reflux doesn't help, either! So I am not sure what I should do. Maybe I am just overreacting! Ugh!

I don't know how it is to clean horse stalls but I remember cleaning out the stalls in the barn where Grandpa kept his cows and it is on the very bottom of my list of fun things to do!!
If you are able to do it, I would, because it's physical activity that will help you stay healthy--maybe. If you do it infrequently it may just strain your muscles and make you sore and wear you out. On the other hand, it burns calories and that's good for you. At your age, though, I'd pick another activity! I found that once I hit 50 my body insisted I slow down a little.

I have struggled with my weight all my life. I lost a bunch when I was 18, I was down to 120 and stayed close to that until I had my first child at 33. After that I just gained and gained! Depression is a big part of weight because we don't like how we look and feel and turn to food, which makes it worse and deepens our depression. Yes, it's a rollercoaster and it seems there's no operator waiting to stop it so we can get off!
I've lost a few pounds since I found out that I have gout. Since the purines in meats and some other foods cause the gout I gave them up. I don't like fruits and vegetables, which is mostly what I should be eating. Sure, I eat them, but I don't like or enjoy most of them. So I'm losing weight! It's easier when you don't look forward to eating and don't really enjoy it. I can't even eat yeasty things, which leaves out those lovely dinner rolls I used to love! I threw away or gave away everything I could not eat so I could improve my condition--pain is a powerful motivator!--and I actually feel healthier after 4 weeks of this horrid diet. I'm beginning to enjoy some of the healthy foods but not enough to want second helpings. I'm never hungry, I eat as much as I want but don't enjoy it like I used to.
So what about a vegetarian diet like mine? Could you do that? It's a lot cheaper, too, than a meat based meal plan. Last night I ate quinoa, brown rice, green chilies, and corn mixed together topped with some sharp cheddar cheese. Not bad but nothing to write home about--some peas would have made it really good but they are high in purines.

I have found out hitting 50 does slow a person down! It doesn't help being obese and still fighting this acid reflux, either! Right now I am alittle depressed and that doesn't help me either! Once again I am on that rollercoaster what is called my emotions! So sick of this!

I do not know how you even managed to do this hard work . I would not even be able to do it perhaps not even in my dreams. Working on horses or cows is not for me.
However, this horse and cow jobs are tiresome and drains a lot of energy. So, I imagine that after doing such work, one can enjoy a long duration of good sleep.

I grew up as a farm girl on a small dairy farm. I have worked around animals must of my life. I don't want to give it up unless I absolutely have to! It would make me really down if I had to give it up! It sucks getting older and having acid reflux! Ugh!

I haven't tried cleaning a stable though we have horses at home.
I have tried feeling the horses and bathing and it was fun- but also tiring.
But with your condition having acid reflux- I am sure it's never a fun doing all those things.
Take care.

I used to ride and groom horses! I also did feeding at this stable 6 days aweek until 2 years ago! I stopped not because of acid reflux. I did becuase the owner couldn't continue to pay me! Long story on that!
Anyway I have been feeling depressed and indulging in chocolate!Making my acid reflux alot worse then normal! I am besides myself right now! It sucks! Really, really sucks!!

I have been working around horses must of my life. I grew up on a farm so I also worked around cows. I even owned a horse just short of 27 years! I want to get another horse but I can't afford it right now! I want to continue working at the stable as long as I can! I also make a few bucks, too! I hope I can get my act together soon! I am sick of making myself sick from having the acid reflux! It sucks! really sucks!
