Do you ever feel like giving up?

We live in such an expensive city that no matter how frugal we are, we will not be able to afford to buy a house. And so I kind of have given up because there doesn't feel like any point.
We make enough to be comfortable, and in many other cities we'd easily be able to afford a house. It's just frustrating that houses are so expensive here.

i know exactly how you are feeling with this.
my husband and i really want to get out of where we live now in our own place not an apartment anymore. we almost had a house that someone got right under us because they brought cash in hand and we were getting a way better deal than the other guy so it was more money. then we actually paid the deposite on another house and paid 2 months rent but nevre had the gas to move all out stuff over there. then all of a sudden we had to turn the keys back in because things happened and we could afford it anymore.
it was very frustrating and we have also pretty much given up. i hate to do that because we really really want out of where we are living but it seems like a lost cause at this point....

Yes, it feels like we're pretty much priced out of the market. We're lucky that the place we are living right now is actually nice with good neighbours - I hope you get that soon too.

Well in your case, if money is not really then you need to find a very well compensated work first. I think on that partnon striving more you should never ever give up if you want to have a better life. But then, well yeah somehow if things will really not go on our way it is kinda frustrating and we oftwlen feel giving up. But if we already feel that way and we go on with it, that would be the greatest mistake on our life, giving up. As long as it still healthy for us and we really had achance then we should really try on it first then we decide after when you knew you have given it all and tried every option possible in order to gain it. Keep on striving my friend tilk it is still good for you.

Yes, but I think we need a different goal. There's just no mathematical way for this to work.

I'm not sure where your located, but I'm in Southern California one expensive place to live with high housing costs. Basically, we bought a house that needs a lot of fixing and I recently posted about the plumbing to give you some idea of what I'm talking about fixer upper.
The plumbing cost over $9,000 dollars to get the house to code. The past plumbers used poor choices for the outside pipe and there were weeds and sticks in the line that had to be removed and new pipe was put in the ground. It was expensive; however, shouldn't need to ever be done again.
In the future the roof will be done, as its in bad shape. We will have to get estimates and see if we can get an affordable roof. I'm certain its going to be more money, then we can afford, so something else will have to cut out of the budget.
I know its hard, as we rented for a lot of years. It was hard cutting back and wearing clothes longer and keeping our car longer. Its a 2000, so its 13 years old.

That's a lot of work that you've had to do!
We've been cutting back, but even so, a house would cost so much that there's no way we could get a mortgage. We could afford property in another city but we can't work anywhere else, so we're kind of stuck.

I think that we must never give up, not aboout any thing in life. We can always get what we want in life, providing our dream is the right one. Can`t you start with a very small and rundown house and use your hands to make it nicer? I started like that with my husband many decades ago. Now I live in my own house, a nice nighborhood and no mortgage. But it takes work.

Around here, even a small condo costs more than 100,000 dollars. And that condo would be over an hour commute from where we work. It's just completely out of our reach to buy a place.
If we had bought 10 years ago, we would have possibly been able to afford a place. But back then, we weren't working yet, so we didn't have any money at all. I think we're just out of the market.

Hi,
You should not give up the idea of purchasing your own house. We are also willing to buy new house for us. This city is also very expensive. But we have decided to buy secondhand flat. the cost of secondhand flat is less than a brand new flat. I am going to sell my own flat at Alibag and buy our own house here. My son is taking loan from a bank. Don't be frustrated.

Um. Well, anything, new or secondhand, costs over a million on this side of the city. Farther away, it's just under a million. You have to drive a while to get to anything approaching affordable.

maybe i am accustom to live in such a townlet.here,i can afford a big and beautiful house,i also can afford a car.the road here is wide.there are not so many traffics.there are post offices, hospitals , schools and other service facilities.i don't want to live in a big city.all things are expensive.i can afford one thing while i can't afford another thing.i am comfortable in my little townlet.i can occasionally visit big cities if i want to.but above all are my own opinion. if you really decide to settle in your city, come on ,don't give up.

There is more to live for than buying a house and besides that the markets will change again. Who knows what it is going to be like down the road. Perhaps sometime soon houses will be more affordable again. The housing market where I live in Canada are not good right now either but is not a good reason to even consider giving up.
I understand your point however. It is frustrating. Sometimes things have to get worse before they can get better though.
Have you ever seen the rent to own option? Maybe there is something like that where you are that when things do start getting better might be an option that would be viable. Hang in there.

There's always the time that we feel of giving up because we see or feel that these things that we aspire to have will not happen. Things just do not come easily to us, they say in God's time, we can have these things. In feeling of giving up, just think of your family and see how happy you are even if you do not have the things that you would want to have. You may not have it for now but probably in the near future. Have faith and keep those fingers crossed always.

I understand. Houses and rent are expensive in my area. I know the feeling of just wanting to give up. I think it is important to know that everyone has difficult times and one point or another. I know it doesn't help much but if you really think about it they do.
Have you thought about buying a house outside of your current city or county?
You could move to another county that is close by and that way you wouldn't be moving too far. I'm not sure if this would work for you, but it is worth mentioning.
I know many people who struggle to buy a house for different reasons. People who cannot afford the payments, people who have bad credit, or people that just don't have the income.
Good luck.

Every city is expensive in USA, Canada and Europe. Few people can afford to live in their own house. I am lucky because my grandfather built his own house and I am staying in this old house. I am not actually living in the city. My house is a little bit far from the city.
However, there is no need for you or anybody else to give up because life is unpredictable and nobody knows how life will turn. In the future, you might get a very good job that will pay you well or you may be able to start a highly profitable business. One day, you may be able to buy a beautiful house.

I know, I know - believe me, I know the feeling. But never give up! We live in an expensive area too - but do continue to stay as frugal as possible and save up whatever you can! Continue to research all your options because you never know what may come up. For a long time we were not able to buy a house either . . . but we did some research and discovered it was possible (the housing market was in our favor). We found a "doable" house in a "doable" neighborhood (not as desirable as where we were before, living in the apartments - but its decent), and at least our money was being put towards an investment instead of nowhere with rent. I've just had to make a few compromises which was a hard decision - but some sacrifices had to be made. Overall the cost of living is still expensive regardless where we live out here - so I still remain frugal - especially since I'm a stay at home mom. Don't give up!

good day cutepenguin,
many times in my life i feel like giving up. hence, in many different instances i have felt it. however, it didn't bring any good at all. as i feel low at times. in this regard, i have decided to lift up everything in prayer and asked God to help me to go through with this. and besides, this is not good for my heart. thus, i want to get rid of stress.

The same is true in our country. Building a house would incur millions so I don't even think about it. I'm fine renting a nice cozy place.
