I've often wondered why some businesses don't allow us to make our own decisions, when it comes to paying for shipping. What I mean is, that there are many things available in the States not available in Canada, and to a lesser extent, a few things available in Canada, that are not available in the USA. I sell for a Canadian company called Regal Gifts. We specialize in housewares, gifts, stationery, garden decorations, some toys, things like that. The company runs much in the same way as Avon does. However, it's in Canada, only. My sales used to be limited to my area, since I had to deliver catalogues by hand. Recently thoug, I was able to get a personal Regal Website, thus allowing me to sell all over the country. Unfortunately I can not sell to the States unless my American customers order and pay shipping, then have it shipped to me, and then pay shipping to me, so I can send it to them!!! That sucks.
I asked Regal about this, and they made some comments about duty, tax, getting it across the border... in my opinion, companies should make allowances for this. Have price lists etc. for Canadians, and then have American, and International price lists, so that people will have the option of ordering, and knowing what shipping and duty to their country will cost. That does NOT seem that complicated to me. I say the same to businesses in the USA, or anywhere else, that won't ship in Canada.
What do you think?

I say Regal hasn't been the same since they went bankrupt a few years ago and were bought out by an American company. I forget what they call the American branch, but they offer basically the same things. That's probably more the reason they don't ship directly to the states. They don't want to cut into the profit of their American reps.

It sucks because you could have really good customers in the USA.
