Stop Calling! I Know You Are Liars!

I swear, every weekday and now it seems to be nights, we get calls from telemarketers. Now, don't get me wrong, I know people do this for a living but I am not talking about the ones who are legit and selling something. I'm talking about those annoying phone calls where they say they can see that our computer has a virus! I have no idea where they are calling from but I know it is overseas and they always start with the same sentence. Saying that we have a virus and that we need to do exactly what they say to help it. When I first got the call, I knew it was a scam! Everytime they call, I either hung up or tell them that I know what they are up to. If I call them liars or con artists, then they hang up lol Once my grandparents got a phone call from them and funny thing is, they don't even own a computer haha. It was on the news sometime last year warning Australians not to fall for it and unfortunately a lot have. I even had to make my brother hang it up once because he was being too nice by going on his computer doing what they were saying. I had a huge go at him and called him crazy! He was lucky I was there otherwise, I can guarantee he would have been apart of this scam. Do you get these calls? Happy MyLotting. ~AussieGal~

@ajithlal: Yes that is true. But I wouldn't accept any of what they are selling. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I too have had many calls from telemarketers. Some of them are real good ones. They speak only the facts and they do their best to sell their products. Selling is a difficult thing and telemarketing is not something easy. Trying to convince a customer when you are right in front of him is tough and so, I can imagine how difficult it is to convince the customer over the phone. It is a pity that there are some telemarketers who are liars and hide many things about their products. They speak of offers which are not there. They speak of false discounts. It is because of these liars that the entire group of telemarketers appear to be liars. There are several people who have lost their trust completely, as far as telemarketers are concerned.

Hello Frederick! I agree that is can be difficult for them and the end result is normally people hanging up on them. I have had many legit calls and after telling them I am not interested over 6 times I get annoyed though. But if it is that computer virus one, I hang the phone up straight away! I know what you mean. Sadly enough these good telemarketers get treated rudely thanks to the bad ones. We don't need to be rude to all of them until we have the facts straight. If we know for sure that they are scammers then just hang up. No need to be rude to the ones we are actually wanting to sell us something. Thank you so very much for answering. :)

This is a trap. They tell you they are from Microsoft and ask you to download a software and then it starts tracking what you type on your computer.I'm very sad that this $hitty business is getting operated from some $hitty call centres in here India. They are mainly targeting English speaking countries and the government here is no interested taking any action against them so I think in this situation people over there should be more careful about this and it's not that difficult. If you did not call them first, then it is a not a genuine call. Be more careful, protect your money!!

Hello Zer0Stats! I know it is a trap and this why I have no time for them. I tell them to stop calling or just hang up. I don't care if people see that as rude because I know they are scammers and they are doing wrong. I wish more could be done to stop these call centres! That is insane to not trying to put a stop to it all! Who knows, maybe the government is working with them haha wouldn't surprise me to be honest. Thank you very much for answering. :)

Yes the government is supporting in fact encouraging these people and I'm sure some people there are also involved in all of this...selling off your information overseas.Otherwise how is it possible these people get your contact information?

I actually never thought about how they got my contact information. But either way I am so mad at these people. How dishonested and cold hearted these people are!

Thankfuly i don't get these type of calls. I guess they dont use the same numbers because in that case a trip to the provider of your phone line would get them in trouble. Or at least unable to dial your number again. I guess...

Hello LegalAlien! You are lucky! They can dial my number again I know that for sure. I have recognised a few people's voices with the so many phone calls they do. I heard that there is a way to stop it but I forget how to do it. :/ Thank you very much for answering. :)

Hahahahaha I laughed so much! I love that movie. Haven't seen Taken 2 yet. I don't know if it will be good. Taken seems like one of those movies that should not be a sequel. Thank you for the laugh haha

Hello AussiGal. I've never received any of those calls. I do get telemarketing calls just not that one. I just never answer calls if I don't know who it is. Sometimes it's kind of like Russian Roulett. Should I answer it? It kind of looks familiar. It might be the doctor's office calling, but I just don't recognise the number... Ok, I'm going to risk it. Hello... ahhh, I got caught! Then I will just quickly say I'm not interested and just hang up before they can continue. That's the thing, never let them catch you up in conversation. Just hang up. It will not hurt their feelings, you don't know them.

Hello almostlate! I'm glad you don't get the same calls I do. They are really annoying and start to annoy me more when they call more than once a day. haha yeah I know what you mean there! Lucky for our house phone though, when the screen says "overseas" then we know it is a telemarketer. I used to be real nice and calmly say I am not interested but now they just really annoy me when they don't take no for an answer so I get rid of them real quick. Thank you so very much for answering. :)

I think some of the telemarketers use different techniques to sell their products. I think this is one of the scam that i have heard. I think most probably they might want to sell some of their antivirus.

Hello ajithlal! I do agree that these phones I get are most definitely a scam. I just don't accept anything anyone wants to sell me over the phone anyway. I would rather see the product in person and do some research on it. Thank you so very much for answering. :)

I got a call from a spammer recently, telling me that I owed $X from a payday loan that I took out in 2011. She threatened to prosecute me,. Yes, I did take out a payday loan in 2011-and it was paid off in 2012. I told her that she was more than welcome to sue me... Loved it when she lost her cool-I know my rights, and the company she's attached to has a lot of scam reports!

Hello Professor! Thank you. :) That is a very late time to be getting calls. :/ Our home phone shows us who is calling on the screen. If it says "overseas" then I don't answer. I can't be bothered anymore telling them I know what they are up to. Thank you so very much for answering. :)

Yaa there are many scammers like them in the market out there and they are up-to make you screw up your computer. Never listen or do whatever they say you because if you go with what they say, you are gonna be scammed. I have personally experienced it once and now I alert every another guy out there who uses PC with an Internet Connection.

Hello jittu4! Yeah I know. It is unbelievable how many scammers are out there. Quite scary really how unsafe we are if we do the wrong move. I have never fallen for anything like this. Not even those annoying emails I get claiming I won a lot of money or saying that someone they know is dying from cancer and they need money. Really annoys me so much but thankfully I just delete it. I'm not falling for their crap! Thank you very much for answering. :)

It's a sad thing that some people do scams for enjoyment or even to gain money dishonestly. What do they gain from this? Money gained dishonestly will always fly fast! Scammers will only gain more enemies even if we don't actually see them. They would somehow feel that they are not nice people. And yes, I get calls like that.

Hello Adval! Yeah I don't understand how people can be so dishonest like that. I wish they would see how wrong they are but unfortunately they might like that. Money can mean everything to some people. Even if it means stealing, as long as they are filthy rich, it doesn't matter. Thank you very much for answering. :)
