I think I'm hypothyroid...what has helped you?

I have a goiter/thyroid nodule that I've had for years. I have had my thyroid tested several times and the doctors always say my blood work is normal and that my thyroid is functioning properly. However, I have suffered with many of the symptoms of hypothyroid for many years (i.e.,hair thinning, depression, cognitive and memory deficiencies). I recently started researching and found that you can have normal test results and still have a thyroid problem. I started taking my temperature and consistently my temp is low, again consistent with hypothyroid. So now I'm considering self-medicating with non-prescription required Natural Dessicated Thyroid from Nutri-Meds. Anybody have any idea about this or anything else that has worked to improve their low thyroid function?

I'm not sure exactly what it has to do with thyroids, but when I stopped having herbal teas a long time ago, the lump in my throat at that location went away & never came back. I think all the tannic acid from those teas might form a lump there which upsets other things like thyroid function. Might be worth looking into? Sea vegetable is very high in natural iodine, so that would be a good option for you too... unless that's for the other extreme; I can't recall right now.

Thank you VB: Never heard that about the teas. Regarding iodine, I will have to look into that. I do eat seaweed occasionally like dulse or powdered kelp.

Sorry I can't help further. I know I used to have a lump there for years, but after switching to a raw diet it totally disappeared. I think the secret is to alkalize the body more?
