What's this pudding like gel called?

Tonight the kids wanted pudding. And for some reason this "pudding" my Mom used to make came to mind. The funny thing is I don't know what it was called or even that it had a flavor that one could describe. From what I recall it was possibly made by knox, I remember her making it on the stove from a box. When it was done it was a reddish dark pink gel(because it was somewhat clear, like a gel / jelly) and thin skin on it. I'm thinking it was a European style pudding of some sort. I called my Aunt to see if she knew what I was talking about. She she she knew what it was but did not know what it was called or who made it. Though my Grandma probably made the same stuff too as a treat as this pudding was a bit more than your boring standard boxed pudding. Anyone out there have any ideas what I'm talking about?

Hi, 3SnuggleBunnies. I was just going to say I have no idea what that could be, when I saw Hatley's post. We get to learn something new every day on here. Glad you found the answer to your question.

I do think Hatley solved my mystery.... though I'll truly know is if I can locate a box instore and try it. Then see who has the better deal Amazon or instore as far as pricing goes.

sounds like a homemade sort of jello

That's just it, it's not jello but thick like a pudding and all I remember is she made it on the stove, it came in a box, it had a skin, red-dk pink in color, and I loved sticking my finger in the pan to see if it was cool as a kid. I think Hatley is on the right track to what it is, now to see if I can find it in a local store is another story.

It sounds like something my mom used to talk about. And she said they didn't make it anymore but I found a company online who made products that no one did any longer. For the life of me I can't remember. If I think of it I'll let you know in case it is what you're talking about. It was so long ago that she mentioned it. She was still in her right mind back then. So it's been over six years.

The only thing I can think of is Junket, but I've never seen it any color other than white. It's made with milk and rennet.

Hatley said it was Danish desert and if you look here http://www.walmart.com/ip/Junket-Strawberry-Danish-Dessert-4.75-oz/10849584 they do make it still and WM does carry the raspberry but it looks to be a bit more than amazon as they both carry it by the case. As I said I want to make sure that's the right thing but if they only carry strawberry instore. So when I get that way I'll have to check it out.

No..and that is a problem in our family too. My mother didn't write down a bunch of recipes that we have all searched for like she used to make bing cherry sauce...it was so yummy.....she canned it and my daughter tried to find a recipe as to how to make it with no success!
