Cat Peed on the Sofa

My sofa is currently in the garden, with a hose pipe on it. When I got up this morning, I think one of the cats had peed on it overnight.
I've scrubbed the offending area with soap, and it's currently sitting at an angle so the water from the hose will soak through the patch. I can no longer smell anything, but I'm concerned that if the cats can they may do it again.
Have you got any better suggestions to get it REALLY clean?
Have your pets ever disgraced themselves in your home?

I know she can't help it but our aged cat, who is 19 is nearly blind and she often has accidents in the bathroom when she cannot get to her litter tray in time or misses completely, mum uses dettol, it masks the smell, nothing worse than ammonia and it also cleans the area too. I like the smell of dettol. I am sure you can use dettol on furniture, but always check before putting any liquid on fabrics.

Is the cat fixed? Male cats spray on everything! We had one that sprayed even after he was fixed.. it can happen sometimes if you get them fixed too late. We bought a ton of febreeze to spray the furniture down anything he did that.
More recently though one of my cats has been peeing in my clothes basket. He got in the habit when he had a urinary tract infection... now he just does it once in awhile because it's sort of become habit. I have to try really hard to keep the litter boxes as clean as possible because if they aren't that's when he'll go in the laundry basket.

I think once this happens you are done for. I have a cat that pees on everything, all the time, or rather, I think he dribbles. He leaves piles of poop for me everywhere. I believe he is senile. I like white vinegar to neutralize. I would also be tempted by hydrogen peroxide. I have heard to use club soda after scrubbing with shaving foam. Good luck.

I have a rescue dog that has a great deal of anxiety... so he pees because of his nerves, at times. It's usually not a problem because I don't have carpet in my house, just area rugs, so cleaning up his little accidents is easy. However, if it happens on a rug or upholstery, I've had good success with this Arm & Hammer product:

Because he pees out of anxiety, I always know when it happens because I see him and clean up right away. I haven't tried it on a stain that's been there overnight, such as your situation with your sofa. But I do know that I have no smell left behind and the product has never stained any surface I've used it on. I buy it at Walmart, in the pet section.

I know there is certain types of sprays that you could use to clean it and to hopefully discourage them from doing that again. Thankfully our cat hasn't peed on anything. But if something like that happened I would use some type of spray I have used spray when our cat has tracked some bm out of box.

Not only cleans, but gets rid of many smells.
