Have You any Personal Experience of Coconut Oil??

I just learned something new - for me - that, if it is true, may help a lot of people with health problems. The special thing about the fat in Coconut seems to be that it is so easily digested. It does not need bile released from your gallbladder to be broken down to be digested. It goes directly to the liver that converts fats to ketones and the brain can use them as fuel. This is when it gets interesting. Many who suffer from Alzheimers, have problems to get fuel to the brain due to insulin resistance and the brain cells die. The brain can use the ketones as fuel and thus give nutrition to the braincells, so that they can even recover. Coconut oil is considered as a potential treatment for many other disorders too, like ALS, MS, some kinds of diabetes, brain recovery after a loss of oxygen in newborns through adults and even recovering after a heart attack. True or not? Well, this wonderful oil - if taken as cold pressed, virgin oil and organic, does not have any side effects, so - no harm in testing it. I would appreciate to learn if you have tried this oil and what effects it has had to your health. Or do you know anyone who has got help from Coconut Oil?? http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/12/13/can-this-natural-food-cure-or-prevent-alzheimers.aspx

I don't have experience with it myself but one of my clients who I provide Childcare for has a son who has autism. She started using coconut oil to cook with and they drink it too. She said since they started using the oil her son's speech has improved greatly and his autism went from moderate to mild. Like I said, I don't know personally but I do know she swears by it. I am going to start using it soon as well because I have heard great things about it. =)

Thank you for telling about this, I am sure the boy and the parents are happy to see this improvement. In the 70s there was one child with autism for every 10 000 - but now every 50th child has autism. Must be something wrong somewhere in the lifestyle. If you can get fresh coconuts, it would be the best, as it has everything in it that our Creator planned from the beginning. But just oil seems to help too.

On our farm during then70's and 80's we employed a lady who made coconut oil but the oil got a bad rap in then 80's. So yes, I have used it a lot over the years but now it is the new wonder thingy. Ever since Madonna was caught on camera drinking cocnut water. The water in the cocnut is sterile and can be used as a drip in an emergency as the chemical composition is perfect. We use cocnut water in cases of diarrhoea etc and it is so good for us in comparison to a soda. I have not taken the oil by drinking it but do use it in cooking. Also good for your skin and hair. Placed in the hair overnight before washing it. The sheen is magnificent

I put a little oil in the hair before washing it and the hair becomes incredibly soft. The coconut oil is supposed to help with thyroid problems, and I am using it for that too. Anyway, my thyroid feels better!! And also my memory and I feel much happier.. I put another link above, that has more info..

I use a variety of oils in my cooking, including coconut oil. The kind I have is inexpensive and also does not have the coconut flavor or smell. I would not mind if it did, however. I have read many of the same things about the health benefits, and I think I will put it on my hair before I shampoo again.I love being able to discuss these things with people from all over the world. I may purchase some other brands ans see if they have the coconut flavor to them as I would think that would be delcidious in some of my foods. I like real dairy butter, and it is better for you than some spreads, but I also will mix it half and half with coconut oil for a spread to eat on my foods.

Maybe you can try some oil that still has the taste of coconut left. I found some in the health store but it is much more expensive than the other sort. It seems it is healthier too, as it is cold pressed and organic. If we can get fresh coconuts where we live, it will be the best to use them natural, but this oil seems to work on autism and some other mental disorders though and it probably helps to lose weight and is generally very healthy. Anyway - no harm in testing it..

I don't know all of the benefits of coconut oil. I do often put it in my water or tea and I also use it in my hair and on my skin . It seems to help with dryness. I put it in tea for flavor and because I've been told it is healthy for us.

Yes, we can use it just because we like the taste.. I am going to use it regularly and see what it does for my hair and skin, but I have eaten it for some time and love especially the chocolates I make with oil, cocoa and a little honey. I wish I had my own coconut tree in the backyard..

The only experience I have had was as massages with it in our scalp for nicer hair. My grandma did that. We also used it sometimes as lip balm in winter. As for oil to cook with, there isn`t any in my country that I know of as we don`t have coconuts but produce sunflower oil and olive oil.

The advantage with the coconut oil for cooking is that it does not get destroyed when heated. If you keep asking for coconut oil in the store and spread info about it, the stores may take it in more and maybe it becomes cheaper. It is expensive in Sweden too, but it lasts a long time and I believe it is worth it due to the health benefits.. Take care girls..

I use it occasionally to massage in my hair overnight or for a few hours before washing my hair in hot water. The shine is so good. Olive oil is my fabourite oil to use for cooking but in my Island it is so expensive

No, you didn't just learn it... myself & RawBill1 have been writing to you on here about it for years! In our experience, there is no such thing as coconut oil is bad, just some types are poorly made & other types are much better - not just organic, extra virgin, etc, but even within those sub-categories. Some taste disgusting, others are heavenly & locally made is always best. I get mine in big 25 litre drums at a very special price & have maybe six or more tablespoons minimum of the stuff every day for the past few years at least mixed in with my salads. There are much more comprehensive websites that go into great detail & diversity on the benefits of the stuff, like the coconut oil research centre that you can sign up to for free & get regular newsletters delivered to your inbox.

Thank you so much. I was invited to lunch last Saturday and they had at least five meat dishes and my hoistess piled on some baby back ribs - she said that she knew that they were my favourite. Well, I ate a few reluctantly and managed to get rid of the rest. Saturday night, I was in pain from indigestion , nauseous, and just felt ill. Spent most of yesterday in bed recovering. I must learn to cope when with friends and stick to soup, starches and salads.

Please could you pm me the name of the sites? I would be so grateful. My husband and I had coconuts on out banana farm. We mployed a lady who would grate the cocnuts and boil them in water after 'washing ' them first with her hands in the same water. It would be boiled and when cool the oil would rise to the surface of the pots and this was skimmed off and bottled. In the 80's it was given a bad rap and now it is popular again

I love this stuff. I have used it to replace almost all of the fat in my cooking for over six months. Over and above the health considerations, I love the flavor it gives to ordinary meals. I still use olive oil for liquid oil but anytime I need to fry anything I use the coconut oil. And if you get some on your hands rub it in, it's great for your skin also.

Sounds good.. I sometimes cook the meal with only water and when the food is on the plate and gets cooler, I add the cold pressed coconut oil, at times virgin olive oil, to get all the benefits from them. Great oil for frying and cooking too, of course, as it does not get destroyed like many other oils when heated..

I have coconut oil quite a bit and I really like the flavor. I don't really have any major diseases so I haven't felt an amazing health turn around but I do feel good after eating it. I also feel good knowing that what I'm eating isn't a hydrogenated oil and knowing what the oil is actually made from rather than just eating shortening or vegetable oil. It's also a great tasting oil and with the health benefits involved I don't understand why people wouldn't want to eat it anyways.

Yes, it must be a lot better than the processed oils we know very little about! If you can get fresh coconuts, it would be the best of course.. Not everyone likes the taste, maybe they are not used to it, but I like it..

I am still not certain which coconut oil you mean. Is the flesh inside coconut or water in it? Or perhaps you mean the oil that has bee further processed? Please clarify what you mean here.

I am talking about the cold pressed, not processed in any way, and from the flesh inside. But if you can get the whole fruit, it is the healthies thing to eat all of it, just like people have done thousands of years.

I believe that the coconut oil is healthy. It's my first time to learn how coconut oil differs from animal fats when digested and released from the liver and gallbladder. I want to make it as one of my superfoods.

The best thing you can do, is to eat the whole coconut. I was just reminded of the baby coconuts that are delicious, and they may be available in your country. I hope to be able to get some - but for now I live so far in the northern Europe that it is hard to get them. Who knows if I will be able to go to another country where they are available.

so good of you that you discover the advantages you can get in a coconut oil. indeed, it is true. since this country i live in is a tropical one, it is not hard for us to find a young coconut or coconut fruits for a purpose. aside from what you mentioned, the very useful usage of it - allow me to mention too that coconut oil is good for the hair. it will make you hair thicken, softer, strong and will prevent gray hairs. its oil too could be used as liniment to fractures, gas pains and etc. you can use this oil also as fuel for the lamps. there are lots of uses of oil. so thanks for bringing this discussion to us :)

Good to learn it is so useful, and it must be wonderful to get the fresh nuts right from the tree. What a great gift from our Creator for giving us such a useful tree.. Seems I will have to use the oil more often for my hair and see if the grey hairs disappear. That would be wonderful!

I only like coconut milk in rice which makes it fragrant, even then I do not eat this often. Otherwise even for curries I prefer not to have coconut, spices tastes much better. Yes I have heard that it is unhealthy, but since I do not eat it often it is not a problem for me.

In the Philippines, the coconut tree has always been dubbed as the "Tree of Life". Every part of it, from the roots to the fruits has its own use. You wouldn't have to throw anything from it. My grandmother always teach me to use coconut oil for my kids' hair, specially when they were babies. It has been proven to thicken and even multiply babies' hair, and it really did to my kids. We also use it for skin moisturization and to treat dry soles that chap through time. It's really good.

I have heard a few peoplie on the DR. OZ show talk about the benefits of coconut oil, but I haven't done any research on it myself yet. I have been thinking about getting some and trying it just to see if it will help me lose weight. You can go to www.droz.com (NOT A REFERRAL LIINK) to find some more information.

Why not try and take coconut oil - might help to lose weight, as it has no carbs and the fat is easily digested. It is easy to find info on the net and you can use the myLot search and have a chance to earn some extra cents at the same time..

Coconut oil used to be my mother's medium of cooking although during the time I started home there were all kinds of adverse reports about it. It is anyway used for oiling one's hair, massaging and so on. Just recently we see reports singing its praises as it being safe for consumption. Who to believe?

My previous employer exports virgin coconut oil in Australia. She own a store in Makati that sells products out of coconut. From what I heard, virgin coconut oil was previously used in Australia in curing skin cancer. Also, I know some researchers who say that virgin coconut oil are very effective in curing many health related problems. It also helps in digestion when taken a spoon every meal. I once bought a bottle of VCO in the past to try it but unfortunately, I can't seem to take them. When I tried to take a spoon, I throw up so I just gave it to my brother. I felt like I was drinking a cooking oil that time. I heard that there are flavored vco in the market but I haven't tried one.

I made flavored oil myself and mixed cocoa and honey with the oil while in room temperature. When it is a little cooler, one can form pralins and then store them in the fridge. You can eat them with some fruit and maybe enjoy them. If the flavored in the store are healthy and made of nature products, why not try them??

If I could get a liter of cold pressed oil for that price, I would be so happy.. Here it costs more than five times that much.. But the incomes in your country may be lower of course.. It is a good thing you can get fresh coconuts where you live!
