Actually, I wanted to go on leave right now. I just want to relax at home after being stressed out for weeks because it was audit and tax filing season.
But when I think of what to do at home I end up just going to the office. Why? One, its summer, turning the aircon on at home would mean higher electricity bill. I will be unproductive and will just watch tv the whole afternoon. I will just engage myself on binge eating and ruin my diet.
Conclusion, it seems that I can not go on leave and just stay at home. It will bore me to death. When I go on leave I should go out of town to truly experience relaxation.

While I filling s leave, I will at least have a plan to go somewhere to relax, even if it’s just a mall. Or have an art projects to do (I have hobby in art). This way I won’t spend my precious leave just for watching TV or something unproductive. Although engaged myself in art project will leave me tired but it’s fun way to spend the time.

Well,i do not think so my friend.I too have done this at times.Especially one time when i was forced to work around 14 hours a day for 3 months.I should say it took me quiet sometime to recover and also to regain interest in my profession and things. It was kind of dull life.Worse nobody was understanding or willing to help.It was kind of those dark days.At times because of the hugh stress, the body and mind cannot take anything further and we need a break.Any more stress or work could get to the nervous breakdown. Its ok to spend some amount on food or electricity. The only we need to focus is health, mind and energy. If these things are back to normal or atleast comfortable,we can get back to work.If you feel staying at home is the problem, you can head for a small drive or walk ro visit some shops or go to friends house.Just get into a different world to help you through with the things as and when needed. So do not think negatively.Allow your body and mind to be free and bring it first to normal before heading anything further. It will help in long run and we are not machines.Even machines needs a break to fix the little issues else they could have bad and worse breakdowns. Thanks!

I understand what you mean. I only think of filing a leave when I am stressed out in the office, but after that I regret having stayed home because I did not achieve the serenity I wanted.

good day aileen2008,
with reference to your post, well, i once did that long time back, when all i want is to sleep all day. but during those time, the weather is not too hot so i find it comfortable staying at home. and with regard to your other concerns, well, you have a point on that. hence, it is really only you who can determine if you want to pursue your leave or not. sometimes, few hours of absence in the office will do, just to stay away for the meantime from the issue and stress that surrounds you.

Yeah I understand what you mean. It is hard to have a vacation and stay home. I would end up just doing things around the house. Which really isn't a vacation. I agree it is better to be able to just go out of town to relax.

I work at home online so I can take off, anytime I want to but right now, I have so much work to do I don't have time, to take any time off right now, I have to be working on my vacation money for June, so that mean visiting all my earning web sites today, and make this money come in fast.

Exhausted at the end of a day spent chasing my two-year-old son around the park and nursing my three-month-old baby every two hours, I collapsed into bed. Just as I was drifting off, I heard the sound of dishes being shifted on the table.
My eyes shot open and my head jerked up.“Honey, I’ll do it,” I called out to my husband, home from his thirteen-hour work day.

That's true. I also think it would be better to get out of the house if we plan on taking a leave from work. It does seem a waste of those precious and limited leaves just to watch TV and binge-eat Although I know of people who prefer such that. I guess different people have different ways of spending their leaves. And I think what's important is we do succeed in relaxing and recharging our body.

I have tried filing a leave before and hoping I could relax at home but sadly, it didn't happened. Like you, I make sure that I have already planned what am going to do before the actual leave of absence. I have booked an overnight stay at a nearby farm resort next month. I really would like to just stay at home, and save some money but I don't I will be able to relax at home. The thing is I can't see everyone inconsiderately using the electricity while I am the one paying for it. I would rather spent a day outside.

We are being given 15 days vacation leave and 15 days sick leave. A total of 30. That is aside from the 3 days Special Privilege leave which we could use for birthdays, anniversaries or the likes. 5 days from the 30 days leave were considered as forced leave. Whether we consumed these or not, they will not be added on our leave credits.
Since I don't want to file a leave if really not for a very important reason, it would happen that at the end of the year, there are still days that I was not able to use.
Actually, I am planning to take a leave just to go to sleep. But I doubt it if I could go to sleep when I am at home. I am workaholic so for sure. i will still be working the whole even if I am at home.
Have a great day!

No. As much as possible, I'll take a leave only when needed. I don't really like wasting my leave credits since at the end of the year, it will be monetized and added to my leave credits. I'd rather use my leave credits when going on a vacation than just spend it at home doing nothing :)
Plus if I'm on leave, my office mates usually bug me about the clients I handle so I'd rather go to work.
