Update on the young cat

My daughter thought the kitten that came to our house belonged to the young woman across the street. I happened to see her out with her dogs to potty. I walked over to her and asked if that cat was hers. She said no, it wasn't. She said she thought it belonged to those neighbors that were moving (the ones that called us Walmart people).
Those people were still coming to get carloads of stuff. That same young cat and another one were laying around near a storm drain (has a grate over it so animals won't fall in). The cats seemed to be laying and watching with interest of what was going on. I saw the lady and stepped just past our fence and introduced myself. I asked if those cats were hers. She said they just took up there. I explained that the gray tiger one was over to my house crying like a baby cries.
I said you do plan to take them with you to where you are moving to, right? She didn't really give an answer. I told her that I'm just going to come out and say it: it's against the law to abandon animals when you move because the animals depend on you for their survival. She didn't like that I was being nosy in my questioning of her. I also told her that it is dangerous for cats to be roaming free. She didn't say much. I think she just wanted me to go away. She sees me as the person who called the cops on them for making bonfires. I didn't call, but sil did because it he smoke was smothering me.
I think they took the cats with them. I've not seen that cat I told you about and I haven't seen the other one either. They have still left a mess in their yard. I didn't trespass on the property, but I've looked as far as I could from our own property. I don't see any sign of the cats. They both looked well nourished, but it bothered me that the tiger one cried almost the way a Siamese cat will cry like a baby. Maybe it just wanted to be petted.
I don't venture out too much due to my breathing problems. I hope the cats are alright. No one here is a cat lover except me. When I get really upset I can't even communicate. It was about 3 days until I found out who actually owned that cat, and the other one too.
When I saw the two cats lying beside each other, it made me think tiger kitty was maybe missing his friend or sibling. Wherever they are, I hope they are taken care of.
Do you get concerned about wandering animals? Dogs have to be restrained in a fenced in yard, or on a pully or in a kennel if they are outside or on a leash.

I agree but I highly doubt they took them with them. They probably dropped them off somewhere to fend for themselves. Such a shame. The kitties didn't ask to be born and certainly didn't ask to be in that situation.

Those people are still moving. We figure they are trying to skip out before the next rent is due. They had 2 trucks over there today. The yard looks a hot mess. They cut down trees to make bonfires. I haven't seen the cats at all.

you did good pointless, I am proud of you. If they took the cats I would not be surprised if they dumped on the side of the road someplace. I certainly hope that they don't.
If sil would let and they come back what about asking him to make a little shelter for them on your property I know you can take them into the house and Kim or you could feed them. Or call the authorities to see if they can find homes for them. Sometimes there are organizations that take care of stray cats. They have several here in Montreal. EXaminer has people who write about cats, you could see if there is anyone writing about them in your area that is a shelter or knows of one.

So far they have not come back at all. Sil does not think like you and I do. It's just a cat or its just a doc. They will revert to their wild state. All that is misinformation and totally wrong. I get pretty hot under the collar when I feel I have to argue a point with him.

I'm glad you found the owners and we can only hope that they will take good care of those kittens. I agree that cats should have the same leash law as dogs have. There shouldn't have to be a law to tell you that if you let your cat loose then it can get hurt, lost, stolen or any number of bad things. They procreate, get in kid's sandboxes etc.

Amen! When I lived on my own, I had a basement apartment and all the stray cats found their way to my house to eat. They must talk to each other because first it was one cat and then there were three, and later two more. The three that I invited into my home I had fixed. Those cats were in and out because they were still used to being on their own. But if I had a cat now it would be on a leash when outside, and inside otherwise. It hurts me when I can't have a cat. But I cannot live on my own anymore.

Somehow I doubt they're going to care for either cat and probably took it somewhere and dropped them off to fend for themselves. From the way this girl acted around you, it's apparent she didn't give a rats behind about them and that's so deg gone sad! I hope and pray they're ok and are being cared for but I highly doubt it. Yes I get very concerned for wondering animals and if I see they need to be fed or watered, I'll do it in a heartbeat! That's why I have so many cats now! LOL Jimmy and I are going to build a shed that's already precut and put box like shelves along the walls with step like ladders to each box so most of our cats can go in there if they want to. It's going to be really cute and cool for them! I'm going to put fleece blankets in each box for them to have comfort and in the summer time they'll have a window unit just like our big dogs have in their big dog house. Spoiled? Maybe. But I see it like this, if I were a cat or dog, I'd hope my owner would love me like that! LOL Besides, it's the right thing to do.

Yes, I do get concerned when I see stray animals and don't know where they are from. My daughter is such an animal person she knows all the animals around and their names. I am out less so I am not so up to date on them. I think just common decency dictates that we do something when we see an domestic animal out and about for very long. We see raccoons around in the off hours but we keep our distance. lol I know the siamese cat noise you speak of. Our older black male is part siamese and he can make a sound that reminds of a mountain lion. Makes me wonder if he is dehydrated with a dry throat. I hope these two cats you mention are okay.

I think they took the cats with them because I have not seen them at all. Those people came back today. We saw them coming on our street when we were going to town.

yes we have been concerned and worried for about 3 months here. i say we meaning myself and my daughter. before they moved out, we were gopng down our street back from Mcdonalds when i saw a little chihuahua, tiny black one a little smaller then my coco. it was just running around like it was lost. they are still building here so it was in front of a couple of houses not finished. dogs arent allowed to run free either and J said it had been running around for days and wont come to anyone. we stopped and tried to get it with food in the car, but all it would do is grab the food and run. not coming up to us when we had it in our hand. so daughter tried to grab it and it disappeared into the un finished house. antwat, a few nights ago i had her come over and take me to the store and there it was again walking up the street next to the neighbors house. my son says we cant just pick one off the street like that as we dont know if its had shots or if it might infect coco with something. i feel so sorry for it but nothing can be done i guess.

Animals cannot speak for themselves, so it is down to us, the animal lovers to speak on their behalf, which you did do and have every right to do so, some people are so lax and so uncaring about their animals, we have a cat who we feed and adore, and yet his owners don't care that he's out in all weathers, cold, snow and ice. Our neighbour who is 94 took him in, he's company for her, well the owners spoke to my mum for the first time the other day and said he hadn't been home for 15 months. It's like they've waited this long to say anything, they know he is being fed and looked after so they don't care, just to contact them if he gets injured as they have pet insurance. Fancy paying out for pet insurance and not having your cat around for 15 months and letting strangers feed him. If he was my cat I wouldn't wait 15 months and I would want him around so I knew where he was. Some people shouldn't have animals!

Hi PointlessQuestions, I too am a great lover of animals and I don't like to see them abandoned or neglected. I have two cats and whenever I come home, even if I'm out for only an hour, they come running to meet me. Whenever I go to a friends house, the dogs or cats always come around me. Some people don't like animals and they should not own a pet. Most people won't abuse an animal, but there is more to it than that, if we have a pet, we must love it. Blessings.

hi PQ I also hope that they are both okay.I did call a save cats group about all the alley cats and I noticed the prettiest of them have been re homed so it s just a few that show up and the meat cutters from the Vietnamese store will occasionally feed them.I am so appalled at how people just dump all these cats out there in the ally and drive off.
There were some Siamese kittne, some long haired ones, and a huge black male cat that once walked into the dining room and caused the care givers some trouble chasing him outside. He still comes and sits atop the worthless generator and glares at us inside lol.
I am wondering if they intend to fix it or buy a new one as over the years I have been here the lights have been off a number of times.the last time the generator whirred and grumbled bu t did not come on,.Its broken and needs to be repaired. that time we had to wait tor the Cal edison company to come and and restore our power.[em]happy[/em

I hope the lady ended up taking the cats with her. Whenever I see an animal wandering on it's own I get worried that it doesn't have a home. It breaks my heart to see strays but I already have two dogs and now a kitten and my dad doesn't want to take on anymore animals
