I didn't see my trash bin in front of my house when I woke up this morning.I thought somebody stole it but to my surprise I saw it at my neighbor's. It turned out that he intended to borrow my trash bin (borrow????) but there was nobody home whom he could ask permission.Well since this was first time, I just let up on his not so nice behavior. What will you say if you were me?

I would not have minded if my one neighbor did this only because we are so close with them and we know they really would give it back. But if you don't know this person than he definitely should have asked before touching your things. I was raised you never touch someone else's things without permission...

Hi Loving! The funny thing is this neighbor has not "technically" moved in. I mean, they have bought this house but they are not living there yet because it is still undergoing some minor touch ups. The owner visits the house almost every day to monitor the laborers. I guess, they will move in very soon.

To me this is very rude as he should have asked you before just taking it for granted that 'borrowing' your trash can would be acceptable to you. No, this is not good behaviour . This is taking advantage of you. You have to make it clear that it is for your garbage only and if he has an overflow then he is welcome to ask you if he could put any overflow of garbage inbto your garbage can. This is very disrespectful to you.

You're right. "Disrespectful" is the right word to describe my neighbor.

I would have told him that that is fine THIS TIME but to please put it back when done. Neighbors are supposed to be neighborly and help each other out but also should be respectful of others things.

Noone "borrows" a trash bin by taking it to his home. Gimme a break! I can accept such use of the word from a child and even be amused by it. I have my own family joke when one of my grandsons (aged 11) ask me I he could "borrow" another jar of the apricot jam I made, as they had eaten all I gave them. I asked him while I handed him the jar when was he going to give the jam back. He was confused for a second, then he smiled and said that he should have said "give". But this garbage can is no laughing matter. Your neighbor must learn the meaning of property. If he doesn`t, the next you know, hw`ll go into your house and take whatever he needs.

I am not sure if this is the right thing to do, but if I were in your situation, I would just get the trash bin from him without having to say a word.
