How often do you think about your achievements?

This is something I've only realised lately that it can really be a great thing, although you shouldn't dwell on the past too much...it is nice to pat yourself on the back from time to time.
I had this situation when my brother was saying I should cause of fronting a band and the more I thought about it, I realised he was right. I mean don't get me wrong I do try not let it go to my head but it is interesting how us humans don't give ourselves enough credit. We have people who are on top of their profession and instead of thinking how much they have actually done, they get stressed with day to day life.
I thought this an interesting topic, maybe you won't but sure that's up to you. I would like you to think about it though, spend at least 5 minutes to think about all the great things you have done in your life and maybe do do on a daily basis. I'm sure it won't be too hard for you to think of a good couple of things and if you want you can reply to this, might help to see it in text. Have a good day anyway :)

I guess we need to adjust our thought well.
If we feel depressed, then think about things that we have successfully achieved and things that we already have.
If we are trying to have a better achievement, then think about things that we haven't yet.
One thing for sure - don't let our mind make us stressed nor laze around..

Well said, I do like the last line in particular. I will admit right now that I do laze a lot but life really is about a balance.

For sure, it's so very hard to find it but anything in life worth having, is worth working for.

You are definitely correct! People have somehow been too busy struggling with their everyday lives that they have forgotten to stop and think of what they have done in the past that they should be proud about. Not to brag, but at least just have the time to realize that there was something in the past that has made his life worthwhile.

Yeah thats the point, it's not being cocky or showing off. It's something people could do it in private and it really isn't that hard. Just a simple case of going, you know what i'm a pretty amazing person cause I have done this this and this with my life.

Yup! No need to brag it to the whole world for it to be known. It would lighten the load that we have, somehow. It would make us stop and smile and be proud of ourselves.

Thats exactly it and the whole point I started this discussion. Everyone deserves a pick me up from time to time.

I do it most of the time. Actually, I have been creating discussions mostly about being successful. Every little achievements counts regardless of how big or small it is. It really helps to increase our self esteem and at the same time a good way to forget some failures that we had. Giving more focus on the positive things is a great help.
Thinking and sharing about our achievements will not only help ourselves but others as well because it would serve as an inspiration for them.
Have a great day!

Thats true as well, depending on what great things you have done, you can inspire.
Life is far more fulfilling if you go about it in a positive way, you have a fantastic day too :)

I think that you should always be proud of your achievements and the funny thing about them is that they do occur in the most peculiar of ways. Something of historical value that you purchased in the past is something that you should be proud of today - they are a part of who you are right now.

Yes they really can and they are part of us...but also the failures are too but then again failures are good too in a way cause they help us learn or at least they have the possibility to, just depends on how we deal with it.

I seldom think of my achievements, and sometimes I think more of my failures than my successes. Maybe I should change that attitude of dwelling on my failures and start being positive while still being humble.

You really should Cherry, I mean why let your failures bring you down when you can have your achievements bring you up?

Your acheivements are result of your skill and talent. It's others who should talk about your achievements and get inspired by you. Though, it's no harm in thinking about you achievements all the time, it's better others talk about you and your achievements. Self-boasting gives the complacency and hinders your growth.

Well yes but you don't always get compliments all that often. It's something I find with musicians that if we get to a consistent level, it's like people get bored and even though it's good people won't compliment cause they feel it's been said too many times before and don't want to be repeating themselves.

I think every time I learn my lessons I remember my achievement. Without remembering it, I won't be motivated to learn harder.

Indeed if you can remember how great it felt when you did achieve something, it will help you strive to try to complete more no matter how it hard it may be.

i think that people who cannot understand wht will do or doing in past which be better its in general every one struggle to get and gain for good life and in return he spent all his life though people have done good and bad in past but really if you spent some thing or some part of life for the welfare you got more satisfaction

Thinking about those good things also help us do more, or it gives us a bit of drive to do better.
Yesterday, I went home early to cook for my dad, i knew this made him happy because he called up my mom to tell her the news about me coming home early and cooking for dinner. i just realized that I should do this more often, right?
The other day, my sister was helping me assess what i do best, and she did surprised me that there really are things that I can do better than others. I mean, not that I want to brag about it, but I guess I just didn't realize that until someone took notice.
Cheers to more good things ahead!

That really is the point about this discussion, don't brag about it, just be happy and pat yourself on the back that you can do it.

Hi Andrew! Nice topic. It gives us a chance to look back and be proud of what we've done so far. I believe that every achievement, big or small, needs a celebration. Achievements are the measurement of our skills, talents, knowledge, behavior or attitude towards responsibilities or tasks expected of us or we self-created. Theses achievements should always be treasured to serve a memory that we can make things happen, we can achieve goals in life. Thanks for the discussion! :)

Thank you joizee, I guess I can figure this an achievement of sorts, although it's more just to get people thinking which really is the point of this site.
I wouldn't say every achievement should be celebrated though cause then you can take away from the really great ones. All i'm saying is that with maybe a bunch of small achievements they can be like a big one.
And you are very welcome.

I do believe that one should always do great things in life, Great things should not be measured on monetary basis, but in humanitarian ways... Also If you think If you are achieving your almost every goal that ever wanted to achieve then that achievement should never get to one head. There are certain achievers who are completely grounded and modest about their achievements in life. You invariably look up to them.

Yes people should always want to do great things and as you say not always for a monetary gain but more for their own well being.
As you say about the people who are grounded and modest. I find that the musicians I respect the most are like that and in fairness it's hard not to like someone who is.
What i'm saying is that you are sort bragging privately, just to give yourself more confidence. I know there are plenty in this world that have no trouble at all doing it but it's doing it in private that is hard for them people.

A lot...I always count my blessings: beautiful things I received, achievements, things I can do well, etc. For what reason? It makes me grateful for the people who acknowledged me; who believed in me and at the same time, give to others the same acknowledgement. I do pat my shoulders esp during times of doubt and sadness and then I pat other's shoulder so they can believe in themsel well.

I also means you can appreciate life and things in life more. I mean material things are nice but fairly pointless if you can't appreciate and enjoy them.

In today's busy scenario, you use up all your time to meet the tasks given to you and it consumes all your time and cannot get relaxed until fulfill your task. It's only post your completion of the task with great ease and within TAT your hard work is recognized. I usually think of my achievements when i am alone and when my mind goes back to the memory lane. Anyways, it's such a nice feeling to think of your achievements and it will inspire others too.

Yes but plenty of people finish that task and are straight onto another one, it's how so many get stressed. So many people forget to take time to think about themselves and where they are in life and where they have come from.

It is not often that I think about my achievement. It is nice to remind yourself what you have done so far and how far you can come from your starting point. Thinking about what you have achieved could give you positive thinking for your future and motivated you.
However, sometime you need someone to remind you what you have achieved in the past, this is just because you focus only on what you will find in the future but forgot to look back how did you get though and achieve all those prize.
