Last Thursday my son came home from school saying his phone had been stolen out of his gym locker. He placed it underneath all his clothes, and after gym the phone was gone.
He has a brand new Evo, it's a very expensive phone. We also recently bought a $50 protective case for it because he'd dropped and broken 2 previous phones.
We tried everything to get the phone back. We installed a GPS tracker, but the phone never left the school, then the battery died so we could no longer track it. We went to the school and spoke to the gym teacher and principal. The gym teacher went through every single locker and never found it. The janitors were going to look over the weekend.
I hoped that someone would have turned it in.
But my son came home from school today and still we had no word on his phone.
We were all mad and disappointed. The phone was brand new! We had gotten insurance put on the plan because he had dropped the phone, and we just got that phone recently, and paid the $150 deductible on the insurance, and bought the case.. all to have it stolen.
Then about 8:30 tonight there was a knock on the door.. who could that be?
My daughter was the first to the door.. there were a couple of teens outside they asked if Javy lived here.. Javy was nearby and came to the door. The kids said they found his phone. Javy was so happy he hugged them!
He's certain these are not the kids who stole his phone, he says they wouldn't have done that..
And it doesn't even matter now. He has his phone back, and we're all so happy!!
Have you ever had a lost or stolen item returned to you?

So how can he keep his phone safe at school? Yes, I had a wallet returned to me. As a young mom I had laid it on top of my car while buckling my child in. I think I was pregnant with number two. Anyway, I drove off and it must have fallen off. A lady from a very conservative religious sect brought it to my door.

I gave him a combination lock for locking things up in gym.. he says he's also going to keep it in his regular locker all the time now and keep that locked too although he says that's easy to break into.

Thank goodness he has it back!
It gives me hope. When it's my turn to give my son a phone this fall. That if he ever loses it, then maybe there'd be kids that would return it.
I don't think I've ever had anything lost that was ever returned. That's why I always have a little bit of paranoia when I'm out and about. Specially with little gadgets like phones, memory sticks, sunglasses, etc. I always have to touch/feel them every other minute.

When your son gets a phone, get a protective case, put insurance on it, and make sure it's password protected so nobody can use it except him. If they offer a GPS locator do that too!

That's superb news. I'm thrilled for your son. I live in fear of my son losing his phone. He knows of course and is really careful. If it's lost or stolen I won't be able to buy another.
A bunch of ladies came up here yesterday asking if anyone here had found a phone. Apparently it was lost on the road and some of our guests had been seen walking along there shortly after. Noone had seen it, but I hope it's found soon as I sort of feel this subtext that they think someone has seen it and not reported it. Last time we found a phone we located the owner by ringing the number marked 'Mum'. It was funny, as I was standing immediately outside her house when she answered!

I'm happy he got his phone back. I have never had anything returned that was stolen. I had painters once that stole a bunch of my jewelry that meant alot to me, my grandmother's ring, my great grandmother's wedding band etc. I wish it had been returned.

wow! your son is so lucky you know? i can tell by your use of words in the discussion that you were pretty frustrated. and i guess you were even angry at your son for not being carefull. well my friend things like this happen. anyways thank god that it had returned to the rightful owner..
in my case, well come to think of it yeah i have lost my wallet once when i was buying somethings in a store and have placed it at the store itself and walked away. i stayed at the area for sometime without the knowledge that i lost my wallet. after sometime one of the locals came to me and asked me whether i lost my purse, and thats when i realised i had really lost it. then they asked for some questions regarding the purse to which i gave them convincing replies. and they gave it back to me. other than that i never had another expirence.

You have no idea how happy I am that he got it back!!
I had a couple bikes stolen from me when I was a kid. I never got either of them back.
One of the times I was at the pool. Mom used to let me ride down to the pool by myself. I got out of the pool and all my stuff was gone. My bike, my clothes, my snack! Everything!
I can't even remember how I got home.. if I called someone or if I walked home with no shoes in my bathing suit..

We were sort of in shock that we got it back.. they mentioned something about finding it in a locker.. the boys are on the baseball team so they might have found it after their game or practice tonight. My son says he went through all those lockers as did the gym teacher. Who knows.. and I don't care.. it's back, that's the important thing!

I am so glad that your son got his pho0ne back, as that has to be a big relief for sure. There was one cellphone, I had a while back when my daughter was living with me. We had got to Walmart, and we both hour our phones with us. the purse I was using at the time, came open, and my phone fell out in the parking lot while walking into the store. We hadn't been in there to long, when my daughter got a call on her phone, from my cellphone that had fallen out of my purse into the parking lot. When my daughter got the call, it thrrew her for a loop, beings that her and I were shopping together. The woman who found it proceeded to tell her, that she found a cellphone in the parking lot, and we were to come out there and make sure it was mine. sure enough, it was, and i didn't even know it had fallen out of my purse. If that lady hadn't been honest, I would have never got it back, and I am so glad she was. I have never lost my cellphone, nor has it fallen out of purse. I was glad to get it back, as i didn't have a landline at the time, and I still don't, so losing my cellphone would be disastrous. hopefully, it will never get lost. Take care, and have a very good day.

It's a good thing that he got his phone back. I've lost my school ID twice, and in our school you can't enter if you don't have an ID. I'm lucky that schoolmates found my ID and returned it to me. I have lost my previous phones, too, and I didn't get them back. I'm careful not to lose my current phone because it's expensive, and my mom will be annoyed at me if I lose it.

This is good news, I'm glad he got his phone back.
Have you considered that the kids who returned the phone were affiliated with a vigilante group or various superheroes?
The kids were not the ones who had stolen the phone but through unidentified means they were able to retrieve the missing phone and return it to the rightful owner. Sounds like a good group of kids to me and definitely good to have around, keeping an eye on neighbourhood justice.

I am not actually sure about what was happened with the thief back then. Maybe he regretted it? Or something happened to him?
It's interesting to make some guesses.
Yeah, I've ever lost several items and so far, if the value of that item costs more than $10, I had never gained it back.

Those Kids are really amazing! I really appreeciate thier good actions!
Anyway in my case, Some of my things just suddenly gone and if I wouldn't look for it it would just appear suddenly in anywhere. I had heard about this before, they said elves (mystical creature) just playing in my room. Can anyone help me with this.
Especially my cellphone! Sometimes it would just appear anywhere, in the drawers, in dish organizer and everywhere. I had hard time looking for it most of the time. :'(
Thanks! :)
