Arsenal continued their quest for a top 4 placing after a hard-fought victory at Craven Cottage. The match started badly for the home team when Sidwell was sent off in the 13th minute for a tackle on Arteta. However Arsenal could not make their numerical advantage counts until half time when Mertasacker nodded them ahead. However Fulham came out of the second half stronger and put Arsenal in constant pressure. Giroud also saw red towards the end of the game. But Arsenal managed to hold off the host to maintain their third position albeit playing a game more.
