My teen daughter is mad at me and now avoiding me and not talking to me because i scolded her about not putting enough input in her studies plus its holiday time and you must keep reminding her to go read,i also took away her cell phone because this is how she is wasting alot of time.have i been too tough on her and what other advise can you give me to deal with her?

Talk to her and tell her that you are not mad about her, rather you are mad because you do not want her to spoil her life.
Tell her that you only wanted the best for her and you are doing everything for her future.
I know it is not easy for kids feels that we are depriving them from having fun- but just try your best to make her understand.
Let her speak her mind as well- and understand everything that she might express.

talk to your daughter and agree to meet halfway. since it's vacation time, i suggest that you give her some amount of time to enjoy. vacations are made for this. however, if she wasn't doing good during the last school year, then make her understand that she has to recuperate this during this vacation. she has to devote time for her books. taking her phone away is okay but only during the hours that she's studying.
