i don't know how to do that but i would ask the vendor on the computer store even i have the time to go later or maybe tomorrow. because we need television on the other room. my father wants to sleep on other room and when i stay on that room to take care of my father i need something to watch. but the televisions are in the other part of the house. since my computer is not working right the desktop computer, that i may use that monitor as television. i just don't know if i would need a working cpu also to use the monitor into a television. so i would just ask the vendor what to buy and how to do it.

You need a tuner it is about the size of a USB stick. You connect your cable into it then it gives you all the free digital channels.Plus there are on line tv guides on a menu.Mine as a sensor built into the stick and a small remote to change channels. Here's the link, http://www.flipkart.com/iball-claro-tv18-tv-tuner-card/p/itmd4ga9jgpqynuk?pid=TVTD4GA88MJMYY6J&ref=90ee19b2-87e6-4d87-9606-2083536f7ef7&srno=m_1_1&otracker=from-search&query=TV%20tuner

though it is quite beyond what i plan to spend on, but i guess it is worth the price. but i don't think that site delivers in my country. so i would just buy and look around here. hope to find cheaper price.

Yes they only provide service here in India but you can go to the nearby computer shop and ask for the TV tuner USB stick or buy it on-line someplace else.At least now you know what exactly it is.

A Computer monitor is basically a TV screen that doesn't come with a TV tuner module installed. Here,an add-on TV tuner is not expensive, you can buy them in any useful computer component store,or online. So long as you have good TV signal where you live, you shouldn't have to worry about rigging up an aerial for the room you want to use it in. here's a link with some info.. http://www.cclonline.com/article/729/Guide/TV-Tuners/TV-Tuner-Buying-Guide/

That's an excellent idea. So, you can watch TV and relax, and also work on the computer when you need to. I am also thinking of doing the same.

This is a very good idea. Actually, I am planning to sell my old monitor but when I read your discussion, well, why not? So I tried to research about it. It says we need a cable box or satellite receiver. Maybe this article can help you with this project. http://www.designbuzz.com/turn-lcd-monitor-tv-computer/ Have a great day!

Hi Hotsummer! You might be needing some cables to attach the TV to your laptop. I think it's called HDMI. Other audio-visual cables are: S-video, DVI or VGA. Some TV-computer compatible can also come wireless. You can better discuss it with your provider to know the appropriate methods to connect the two.

It is actually possible cause the port are kind of the same and if not, you can change the connector so that it would be possible.

That's actually correct. You just need to know the compatible connector and where to connect it. I know some monitors can be connected to TV as long as they have the AV in/out plugs. :) Good luck! :)

You just need a tuner to use your computer as a tv, it would be the best option for you. You can go ahead with it!

Video Splitter - This is a splitter electronic or computer stores are using for their monitors/LCD/LED/Plasma on display.
I think what you need is a video splitter (see attached image below) and a monitor cable long enough to connect this monitor into an active monitor. It is what you would often see in the electronic department store where all the screens of their LCD/LED Panel TV/Monitors are showing the same videos or pictures. The only disadvantage here would be that you cannot control what you want to see from this monitor or location being that it is not the source. The other disadvantage or problem would be getting and running the long video cable. I hope this is what you are looking for.

Hello.. As far as I know we need TV tuner card for watching TV on our computer. So yes we can make computer TV. and that also not need more cost. But as far as i know it need running computer. I guess we can't do it if we only have monitor and CPU/System is not working. I don't know about other alternative though.
