Does mist fan really helpful during hot and humid summer?

Last year, I went to Thailand. The temparature range from 40 to 43 degree celsius. It was terribly hot. Then I saw a house using a mist fan. I know the mechanics of it but I don't know if it really works in a highly humid climate. Now that I am experiencing a 38 degree celsius with humidity of 60%, I wonder if there are some mylotters who have tried this mist fan and can attest that it really works. Does it somehow really cool down the place? To what degree more or less.

Mist fans work on the principle that, when water changes state from liquid to vapour, it absorbs considerable energy (heat) from its environment, so spraying a mist of water into the air will tend to cool the air down as the small droplets evaporate. This will work in a low to medium humidity such as 60% but is less effective, the higher the relative humidity is because the water will not become water vapour.

So I am right. Thanks a lot. You have saved my money from buying one.

What you truly need is a dehumidifier. That will remove the high level of water vapor in your spaces and will cool the air. A good dehumidifier added with a ceiling fan will do wonders in the most humid of areas.
