...will it change your perspective?

Today, many government are passing laws that could be beneficial to one side of the population but controversial on another. Of course, if it is the law it will be applied to everybody - not jut the majority but also the minority in that area. For controversial topics and issues, there might be instances when the government passes despite vocal opposition. If you are against a controversial law (already in place), would it change your perspectives. Or a justification would have to be made for those people who didn't like the law in the first place?

I think that the government should go ahead and make laws despite public opposition. I think Obama does not want to rock the boat and do anything this term b/c he wants to be in history books as a liked president. This is going to be a lame duck term for him. The government knows more about certain things than the general public. Plus the public opinion can change on a dime. They will never be able to please everybody so they should do what they believe is in the best interest of the public. If the people don't like the decisions that have been madewe can always elect someone else come election time.

I am not exactly talking about the US president or government . i could agree with some of your points - government certainly have agencies that know some more things compared to the public and that they will never can please everybody. Agree in your last line but if the public wasn't aware if the reasoning behind a controversial law or bill, , they might be able to just decide on their own why it had to be implemented.

Not all laws are meant to satisfy the people. There is a reason why the government passes a certain legislation despite opposition of some because they believe that a certain law will greatly benefit the public. In our country, there are so many laws that I am against for because I think it's redundant or there is a need to change that. But since I am merely part of the public and have no voice in the society, there's nothing I can do about it. All I can do is to comply with the law whether I like it or not.
