Netflix VS. HBO

So it was reported this morning that Netflix has surpassed HBO in subscriptions. This news made me wonder about netflix as I am one of the ones who has never used this service. I have always had HBO and usually do not find much programming I actually want to watch so I was wondering if Netflix would be a better way to go for me. They mentioned that Netflix now has some type of programming as well as movies.
So my question is...
Do you Netflix? If so, what differences do you find when it comes to netflix vs. HBO or any premium channel programming? And do you like it better or worse?
Do I have to have special equipment to use netflix?

All you need for Netflix is an internet connection. I haven't used either HBO or Netflix in a few years but I was under the impression you could get HBO shows with Netflix? I might be wrong, but in that case, I would pick Netflix over HBO even though the new Game of Thrones season just started.

wait so you can get HBO through Netflix....this has just further confused me..LOL.
So is it like renting movies? Or is it a monthly subscription and you watch all you want for one set price?

Okay so no premium channel shows but movies. I wonder if I can get sitcoms- you know like the whole season of Everyone loves Raymond. I have an xbox and from what I gather thus far I can use that to view netflix movies- but I haven't looked into it further yet.

I have had netflix on and off for years. Netflix can be awesome and affordable if you use it often. Right now we have a free trial of all the movie channals including hbo. In my opinion hbo sucks. There are so many older movies on. I like to watch new movies, not movies from the 80's and 90's. We have had the free trial for several months now and the only thing I like about it are the tv series. For movies and tv series netflix is better and cheaper. During the warm summer months we don't watch much tv so that is when we cancel netflix, until winter of course.

hi max!
I like the idea of canceling during the summer months. I find with HBO and other premium channels I only watch one or two of their series and rarely find myself watching any of the movies they show. So it really is a waste of a monthly fee for me. I do find they show many older movies and although some can be fun to watch again...they never show ones I want to see

I had a subscription to netflix when I lived in New Mexico where the movies would be delivered to my mailbox. Now they have a streaming device where it can come right to your tv, which I think is great. You get movies and tv shows for a good price compare to HBO that only offers you TV shows I believe. I think its a great way to watch movies and TV shows at your leisure. I now live in Puerto Rico and can't get netflix but I have the Apple TV which I'm able to get movies from the very old to the up to date movies. Great gadget!
