A Documentary Well Worth to See - 107 Years Old Survivor from the Nazi Camps

I posted earlier a story about Leopold Engleitner - the oldest survivor from Hitler's death camps. He is from Austria and the only reason why he was arrested, was that he refused to join the Nazi army. He would not have joined any other army either, as he had learned from the Bible that true Christians cannot have a part in killing others, whatever nationality they have. I just saw a documentary, well worth the almost 30 minutes - where he tells about his experience and how he survived all the violence, hunger, cold and the threat of being killed any time. It is good to see how happy he looks even at this age and he has been visiting scools telling his story. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0d_n4irUqMk Would we be faithful to God and love even our enemies, even if it meant that we risk our own life?? Would we trust that we would get strength from our loving Creator to stay faithful, like so many thousands did and still do??

I enjoyed watching the video very much and thanks for posting the link. It reminded me of the early Christians that faced the lions in the Roman arena. They loved God more than this life and proved it by their faith. I hope that I can be just as resolute in my love for God as Leopold is.

Yes, I hope to be like that too, when trials come in the future. And I believe we can get strength from our heavenly Father to endure what ever comes in our way.

So true! Only with God's spirit that strengthens us can we endure.

that's the reason why saints are very noble and genuine hearts of faith. Honestly, it will be really hard to stand for faith when life at stake especially when there are people getting hopes from you. I remember the movie I watched before when I was in highschool that shows how Nazi Army really showed there evilness "Schindler's List"

I have seen that movie too, Schindler was a person who chose to do the right thing when most around him did evil things. Those who stayed faithful in extreme situations, like Leopold did, were people like you and me, and they needed - and got - help and strength from God, because they wanted to obey him. We can also get this strength, if we really want to do the will of God and search him from all our heart.

We all need a lot of help and strength from God in a situation like this, so I am sure that is why Leopold could stay faithful during this time. God can give us strength if we pray for it, to endure trials. Maybe we have different trials but if we trust in God's help, we can be victorious like Jesus and so many others have been, not in our owns strength.

I hnstly do not know and hope and pray that I would never be tested as this man was tested. I believe that I have seen this documentary but will check again. I seem to remember seeing it on television. What an admirable man who will surely have a special place in heaven as he can honestly say that he loved God's people

God has promised in his word that we'll not be tested more than we can endure, and he can give us strength, which he no doubt gave to Leopold and lots of others in the same situation. Faithful persons will for sure get their reward, wherever God wants to give it to them, either in heaven or in a paradise on eart. These kind of people are so encouraging and great examples to us, just like Christ was faithful until the end and he also got a wonderful reward.

That's really one of the challenges every Christiian has - loving one's enemies. Mr. Engleitner is someone we should look up to. Hisbfaith in God was unwavering. I hope one day my faith will be as strong as his. I still find it hard to forgive, let alone love, some people who had done others wrong,.

It depends on what kind of love the Bible is talking about. The Greek word for this kind of love is "agape" which means love built on principles. We can hope that our enemy will change and learn to do God's will and have a chance to live forever. Agape is not the same as friendship - (Greek: philĂa) Our love to God can grow when we continue to learn to know him by reading his word and meditating on the many good gifts he has given to us. It also is important that we search company with others who love God. We also need to keep contact with our heavenly Father in prayer asking him for guidance to do his will.
