I Love Americans (Honestly) But..

..sometimes the behaviour of some, especially in 'High Places' shall we say, makes my mind boggle, to say the least. The media (in both the US and here in the UK, I'm ashamed to say) are ALL saying the same thing about the Boston Bombings and no-one is disagreeing. To me, that's brainwashing and I'm sick of it. What about the other point of view? Does it exist or what?
Surely, there must be SOME Americans (and others) on here who:-
1. Disagree with online articles from Clowns such as Ted Nugent (see below).*
2. Think it's impossible that a pressure cooker should be classed as a WMD (Weapon of Mass Destruction) just so that the 'terrorist' is legible for the Death Penalty. This is INSANE! One minute the 'terrorists' are part of a 'wider group' the next they are 'acting alone.' Which is it? Or, could it possibly be too early to tell seeing as Dzhokhar is lying half-dead in hospital anyway?
Is it any wonder why the country may be seen (by some) as the laughing stock of the world, especially when it comes to 'alleged' acts of terrorism? Anyone who has a pressure cooker (especially if you're a Muslim) will be 'fair game' now.
I'd get rid if I were you. I feel sorry for the manufacturers. No doubt the likes of Prestige will go bust, adding to the financial woes of the world.
Here's the hate-filled rant by Ted Nugent..it's so full of bile it actually makes me feel quite ill.
*Regardless of Tsarvaev's sentence if found guilty, rocker Ted Nugent has weighed in on the case, arguing that his punishment should be much more severe - and as America's 'Founding Fathers' intended.
In a column for World Net Daily entitled, 'Time to Stretch Neck of Jihadist Punk', Nugent wrote: 'Imagine if this Jihadist punk had basically committed the same crimes 150 years ago. He would have been swinging from an oak tree in Boston Common no longer than 60 days from the date of his arrest. That would be justice.'
I bet you he has a gun (or guns) stored away somewhere as well. They should be taken away from him RIGHT NOW!

Thanks for the warning... I've got to go & get rid of that pressure cooker now. I don't use it anymore now anyway. I think I'll recycle it for scrap metal rather than sell it, just to be one the safe side. Stainless steel is still worth a bit now too.
What I think is one of the main issues here is the lack of independent press. I thought there would be more of such in the UK which, if I remember my history correctly, has always had the greatest independent (meaning seperate from government influence or control) press for the longest time in history. We have a number of smaller online independent "newspapers" here, like Crikey & The New Matilda funded by donations - fairly recent innovations, but some good quality journalism there. They go a lot deeper into issues & present an entirely different perspective, giving the "popular press" a real thorough going-over. Many times just calling their bluff & proving how they're flat-out liars.

Well, that's something I suppose. Oh, and Ed Milliband (Labour Leader) has had his adenoids done (operation on his nose) and, apart from the visible scar, he's still 'nasal' and will never get in in a million years, even though I like the guy.
'Spitting Image' would have a field day with our politicians now. David Cameron's high forehead would be more pronounced for a start.

LOL!
We still have 'Question Time' on a Thursday night when politicians from all 3 parties (even 4 sometimes), and a couple of journalists, etc, are on a panel and questions are asked by members of an audience that have applied to be on the show. The questions are stage managed, if you like, but that's the only lively debate we get during the week. The House of Commons version is a waste of time, especially since cameras were let in..many years ago now.
I would say the satirical magazine Private Eye and The Spectator are the only rags to question things. The others are more interested in Kim Kardashian's pregnancy and whether or not she looks fat.
After the bombings I've come to realise that even the internet is controlled by the powers that be. This is a shame but not entirely surprising.
Bring back 'Spitting Image' I say. They'd have LOADS of material to go on, that's for sure.

I go on this too, it's brilliant. Satire at its best!

Awesome! We've got someting sounding quite similar... Q & A on the ABC on Monday nights - quite late.
Yes, those Question Times in Parliament are definitely a waste of time... except when the people up in the Public Gallery protest & then things get interesting! Actually, your lot are much better behaved than ours in recent times.

i'm still not completely convinced the 2 sat the bombs down and detonated them. people wanted to see video proof and to me it still wasn't good enough to be convincing. the video they showed of them showed their picture appearing and then disappearing as they walked down the road. their backpacks disappeared in between the images. why is that? why don't they show the 2 clearly walking down the road without distorting the video in any way whatsoever. if nobody got's anything to hide then just show the video with no distortions. if anybodys got clear video with no distorting the images then i would really like to see it.

I do agree with you. The more I think about it the more I think it's all been stage-managed..by whom, I don't know. The reason I think this is the pressure cooker scenario. Now, my Mum used to have one of those and they're VERY heavy, even without anything in them. If you look at the alleged bomber (the younger guy), he's very thin. He certainly doesn't look very strong does he? Bearing what I told you in mind, how on earth could he carry a pressure cooker with EXPLOSIVES in it? It would weigh a ton wouldn't it? I've not read anywhere how far these guys actually walked with these rucksacks before - allegedly - setting them down to explode. How did they know (after they walked away) that the force of the blast wouldn't hurt them as well? None of it makes sense to me - the whole of last week has been surreal to say the least.

One of the things that we in Britain find difficult to comprehend is the fact that the United States does not reflect what we see as a common standard across the whole nation. In this country Nugent's comments might well be seen as incitement to religious and racial hatred. However America is not like us and permits what we view as extremist and offensive comments with impunity. I find it hard to fathom why somebody like him should be elected but the fact is he was. Despite protestations to the contrary,, America particularly away from the edges of the country, is much more insular than its European counterparts. Much of that has to do with geography. Many US states report very little international news and as a result there is a large degree of insularity amongst people who end up viewing the outside world with some fear and distrust. We only have two look at this country's response to Muslim terrorism to see how easily small groups of xenophobic nationals can whip up a state of fear that permeates the entire nation. The lynch mob mentality that Nugent advocates is not too surprising when you consider that less than 100 years ago that was a routine style of justice in many southern states. Interestingly Moslem nations often make similar hate filled comments about the US. I suggest that it is not a religious or national traits but part of humankind. Unpleasant but also unsurprising,

hi Janey well I am not sure how I take laughing stock of the world as how come this laughing stock of the world is not too bad to ask large hunks of money from when other countries need so me help? anyway I never pay much attention to those like Ted Nugent and thats really funny talking about pressure cookers being weapons of mass destruction wow/that does boggle my mind. But surely you must agree that no matter why these men did the bombings that was a horrible act against a lot of innocent people and it should be punished, If this had happened in your country do not tell me you would not have been angry at those who injured and killed innocent people? Of course but then again the English mainland has been bombed by the IRA for years but no-one from America was bothered so why should I be bothered about the US being bombed now? Taste of what we've had to endure for years. Granted, I think it's horrible (whoever is responsible for killing another human being) but, this fawning malarkey the UK has got embroiled in is a bit sickening considering what's gone on in the past, that's all.
I still love Americans though..well, some.

So that is it? What happened in the U.K. 30 years ago was funded by some Irish Americans, colours the way you think today? Yes, I know that money came from Boston. Mother of God - it is 30 years ago. times have changed and so have people. It is a new generation and not all Bostonians are Irish. So tell me what is it you are looking? Payback|? I seriously do not understand the thinking here

The man deserves a fair trial. I was happy to see that he will be tried in a court rather than a military tribunal. As for Nugent and his ilk, he's an idiot, and we have far too many of them in this country mouthing off, but we aren't all like that. Not by half.

I disagree with what Ted Nugent said as it is so barbaric. But his views are not the views of all citizens of the USA Janey.
However, I am glad that this young man was caught and should face the court who will decide the punishment. I think that some other nations in the world saw the lock down as overkill but I didn't. I believe that the USA was sending a strong message to any others out there who may start another bombing that THEY WILL BE CAUGHT. That the US law enforcement agencies will search and hunt down every last jack who hurts its citizens.
When I think of the little boy who went to hug his Dad and was killed, and his sister is about to lose part of her second leg (the first being blown off) and their mother who has sustained brain injuries - well my blood boils. These nutters must be caught. The USA is a vast multi cultural society with every ethinic group and religion on earth and yet, in times of crisis, it pulls together. This act alone makes it really special.

Ridiculously, how came they lay the blame on the pressure cooker ? Over there,it seems that all grass and trees are mistaken for enemy troops.I think the internal affairs of other countries must be left up to their people. No matter what has happened in one coutry, there is no warrant for another country sending troops to there.Sadly,It is the common people who bear the brunt of any act of vengeance.

'Alleged' pressure cooker. I don't think there was one (or two, even 3 of them, according to some reports) as the whole thing has been made up and the real culprit(s) have ensured these two brothers are framed with the evil act instead.
When I heard Iran mentioned the other day (connected to the Canadian report about the impending attack on a train to the US) my blood ran cold. It's like that's the new country to have a go at. We've had Iraq, then Afghanistan, North Korea (to a certain extent) and now Iran.
I predict World War 3 in 5 years if something drastic isn't done now..like diplomatic talks. Remember them?

You have right and i agree with you about Americans. We live in a strange period and the governments try to hide the truth. They show us only lies and they control like that our opinions. we must be able to judge the things and we dont need to believe whatever we hear from tv and other media.

The biggest 'control' that worried me was the total lock-down of Boston but, because the two nutty bombers were (either) killed or captured..well, that's alright then. I find the logic of a lock-down extremely hard to comprehend, plus the fact it was a 911 call from a member of the public that resulted in the 2nd alleged bomber being apprehended anyway..it had nothing to do with all the firepower on show. Ridiculous whichever way you look at it.
London would not be locked down in such a way..well, maybe parts of the Underground, perhaps but not the whole of the city. Well, I'd like to think so anyway!
