Do you know my name??....

You are about to find out who I am!!
This was the question posed to police officers after a routine stop of a vehicle that was driven by the husband of famous Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon. Yup folks- she pulled the “celebrity” card and apparently this happens quite often. Also reported by the media to have pulled the “Do you know who I am” card is Margaret Cho, Gloria James (mother of famous basketball star Lebron James), Dina Lohan (Lindsey Lohans mom) and many more all have sputtered the question when in a tight situation.
So my question is…
How do you feel about celebrities pulling the “celebrity” card? Do you think they deserve special treatment because they are famous? How about when dealing with the law..do you feel they should be treated any differently than you when breaking the same law you may have broken?
A good example of breaking laws and getting chance after chance is Lindsey Lohan. She has violated her probation numerous times and still the judge seems to go “easy” on her. If that were any regular person they would spent those days in jail for sure!

Exactly ! Celebrities should not be given such opportunities because we are all equal in the eyes of the law. No one is above the law not even the president of that particular place . We are all guided by the law , justice is for all not just for few rich.

I agree but most times they feel the are above the law. And that wouldn't bother me so much if the law enforcers wouldn't treat them that way as well. Most times celebrities get off with a slap on the wrist...

I totally agree- NO ONE is above the law. That is including millionaire movie stars! I'm happy the police didn't give a warning and arrested them both!

We should all receive equal treatment under the law. I should not get off because the police know me, but neither should I be targeted because they "know me". I do agree about miss Lohan, though.

Great point! Definitely a double edge sword at times. You could be a repeat offender and known by the cops and targeted accordingly because of that....its a shame.

I think that too. Unfortunately it doesn't work this way in real life ;(

The question is - did it work? Did the police officer still give them a ticket? If it works, people will do it. If it doesn't, they won't, because it will simply make them look pathetic. Celebrities get the best tables in restaurants, for instance, by playing the celebrity card. It's not fair, but you can understand why it happens - you can get more custom for your restaurant if you can say celebrities eat there. But what would the motivation be for a police officer to allow them to escape a fine? Would they give him photos and autographs, invitations backstage, tickets to shows? A walk on part in their next movie? I doubt it - so why would a police officer be impressed? Let's hope he gave them the ticket!

They were arrested with mug shots and all- so no her little stunt did not work- THIS TIME. But it has worked for many before her...
I have never been one to idolize celebrities. They are human beings just like the rest of us. Just with a bit more fame and a lot more money behind them. Why should that make a difference in how they are treated when it comes to the law? Police shouldn't be impressed, but some are...and some do let it go. Not this time...and I'm glad!

All are equal under the law,but due to some security reasons VIP (generally not mentioning gloria james), will be given privileges

No security reason should ever allow a "VIP" to use this comment(s) to a law enforcement officer... that's just my opinion.

Hi,
Celebrities should not be treated differently. The rules or laws should be same to all. Everywhere we can find that the celebrities or the politicians can violate the rules and no action is taken for the violation of the rule.
