More Cries For A Ride

My friends that had their van repossessed bought another one without really checking it out. It has broke down on them twice so far. Yes, I received phone calls asking me to give them rides. I told them no and then explained to them that I had work that needed to be done. One time I was helping my 82 year old lady do some things. I'm just not going that route again.

I definitely know what you mean. I don't feel bad about this either. I also told her that she was making a dent in our friendship by constantly calling and asking for rides. They have many other friends that they can call. It isn't just the gas and my time it is the extra miles and stuff.

i'm glad you learned your lesson. these people are so demanding. they don't think twice about asking for favors. i'd even go far and say they tried to abuse your generosity when their van got repossessed. they know they need a car always but they bought one without checking if it's in good condition. or maybe they were thinking that never mind if it bugs down anyway you're always there to extend an arm (not just a hand)....

Yes, they are demanding. I guess they figure that I don't have anything else to do with my free time. I am trying to figure out when I really have free time. I do most of my work here at home and it is the same as if I was working somewhere else. I wonder how soon it will be before she calls again.

Am sending you a large, neon "Taxi" sign to paste onto your forehead... :D

Please send a meter for me to attach to my car. I think I will start charging by the mile. Not really. I'm just not going to get into that again.

I don't blame you! It is sometimes hard to turn down people but geeze when they use you beyond measure it kinda dampens your helpful spirit. I think they were asking way too much of you. Perhaps if you did not have to drive to pick up the wife and then go pick up the husband it might have been better.....

Wow, how did I miss this? Yes, that put a dent in things. It definitely took away some of my time. I think she is insecure in some ways. I am the last person she had to worry about when it came to her husband. They got another completely different van. she texted me at 10:30 last night to tell me about it. She said it runs good.

I`m glad you learned your lesson and I hope that your friends learn theirs although I am afraid that they are the kind of people that think that the world owes them something. Your words writing: "I told them no" made me very happy

It is no from now on too. I am not going through that again. My days and nights were so messed up and I am just now starting to get back to normal. It is funny how just a few days of ones schedule being mess ed up can cause this. I don't feel bad about my decision either.

Some people just use and abuse people all the time! They seem to only be around when they need something from us. It get's annoying. I don't blame you for saying no. Sometimes we have to just say no or we will forever be taken advantage of...

You are so right. I don't know how many times she has called me since the 3 day ordeal. They bought a van and it kept breaking down. I just didn't have it in me to keep running them around. It was my time that I didn't get a thing for. Not that I really wanted them to pay me for it but they knew that I get most of my income from working on the internet.

What happened to them may happened to you so why not lend a hand to your friends on need and you owe to be thankful your given a chance to serve an 82 years old it's awesome as of this time few people reaches that age. Your a lose in your attitude.

It isn't the 82 year old woman. I would do anything for her. I very much enjoy being around her as we get along great. It is some other friends that I helped out last week. I don't mind helping friends but they went way over board. There are some posts about that here on myLot.
