Okay does anybody know what is the difference between .srt and .sub - subtitle formats? Basically i have this movies that i have subtitles for which end in .sub And they used to work with Mv2 Player. Now i have stopped using Mv2 Player and am using Windows Media Classic. And the subtitles in their .sub format wouldnt work. So i went on to download new subtitles that work and then it came to my mind that maybe changing the ending of each subtitle from .sub to .srt might work. And it did, it does. So what's the deal? Anyone knows?

The basic difference between a .srt and .sub file is that .srt files are usually text files which can be changed. Changes such as font size, font style can be made, also if you want to change the subtitles as per your wish you are free to do it. For e.g you want Hindi subtitles in an english movie you can edit the srt file to accomplish this. On the other hand .sub files cannot be changed and you are always stuck with the basic text parameters like the same font style and size.

hmm thanks prateekgdx. I actually use a software to edit any subtitles, it works on sub and srt from my experience. But it's not like im experienced or nothing. I just know a few functions what to do to synchronize a subtitle with the video, and it helps out. Take care. :)
