Had it been a Durian fruit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durian), a tree whose fruit is as big as a coconut but is covered with sharp spines, it could be worse. I always take extra precautions when walking or driving under a coconut tree, a big one could come crashing down anytime. Our town has lots of these trees, I often pass under them and my precaution has paid off, not a single hit so far, it is finder keepers game when coconut fall, that is the unwritten rule here and it would not be good if you knocked unconscious by it.

That is quite true my friend,that standing below a coconut tree or any fruit bearing trees with the danger that the fruit would be in the time you are in the spot you are caught standing by accidental circumstances.This could also be true to construction sites,whereby passersby were not aware of the danger,that there were incidence of falling debris in the areas they were passing,because whatever the construction worker do,there could be any accident that he has accidentally drop his hammer of other tools in the place of working his craft,that hits a passerby.This could happen to anyone and this is very dangerous,as it could endanger our life.

She was studying there when the coconut fell on her. She was bleeding profusely. Our native place also has many coconut trees but we remove it.

It is fortunate that he survived the freak accident . My neighour had some durian fruit trees beside their house. I remembered there was once during my young age, I came to know that one of my neighbour's kid being hit by a fallen durian . He had head injury and there was blood all over him. Fortunately, it was not that serious and he was alright after the treatment .
