You won't actually see what Reputation (star) you have earned until you have a User Rating of 100.
To make sure that you have a good reputation, know and follow the Guidelines, frequently read the FAQs and concentrate on posting good quality, relevant and descriptive responses to discussions in which you have an interest and which you know will not be deleted. If you have nothing useful to say, which adds to the discussion, then it is best to move on and find another.
Your reputation depends on how other users rate your posts, and being as descriptive, relevant and original as you can is the best way to inspire others who read your posts to give you good ratings.
Short, one line posts, which do not add anything to the discussion will either earn you no ratings or negative ones.
