Too much work

It's been over a month when my partner here in our office passed away and yet the HR have not yet replaced him. For over a month now, I am doing jobs for two people. It is taking toll now. I feel tired and unappreciated. I think I am going to quit soon. What would you do if I were you?

it will take two things to happen to make them fast-track hiring a replacement. either you get seriously ill from overwork and have to be hospitalized (which i hope doesn't happen of course) or you make a really serious mistake at work that costs money to fix and a lot of embarrassment for the company.
do you really want to quit or just take a long break? if you still like the job itself, your coworkers and the company as a whole, don't quit yet.
if you do decide to quit, what do you think of your chances of finding another job quickly in the same field, in the same position?
if they finally find a replacement, who is going to train him/her? if it's mainly you, that would mean additional stress, too, since it takes a while to learn things so you'll be checking him or her all the time.

I still like the job and the co-workers. But I feel the management is abusing me already, giving me too much job to handle. I am already juggling 3 projects at a time with the same deadlines. Training will not take too much time either, as long as the newly hired is well versed with c# or .net language, he will be fine. I just need to orient him on the requirements of the projects. And since we are well documented, he can easily cope up with it. I already sent my application to other companies, let's see which come first, me being hired or them hiring someone to be my partner.

I would ask for someone to be hired. It is too much to be doing the work of 2 people. For a long time at my husband's work, his section was short staffed because they did not replace an employee who took another job. It made everyone else have to work more and made vacations harder to take, etc.

They posted for hiring but still it is still taking too long. I don't why it have to be this long for them to hire someone.

I wouldn't quit. I'd continue to work and just be grateful I have a job.

Maybe, but I am over stressed. I think I am neglecting my health if I work too much.

Try talking to HR and asked what's taking them too long to hire a replacement. I mean, you may love your job but if it's taking a toll on your health, then it may not be worth doing them at all.

Yeah, I'll talk to them on tomorrow. It's really not that hard to find a replacement and yet it took them too long.

Before thinking of quitting, perhaps you could remind first the management that they should find a replacement of a lost office mate. Sometimes, people just forget what they are supposed to do and reminding them from time to time can help.
Have a great day!

Done this already. And they know how much responsibility my teammate left me. I am just tired already.

I will ask for salary hike for sure dear, and also I would have ask for the replacement. If the dont increment my salary in next month I would surely leave this job and search new one.

Exactly what I have in mind. I am over stressed now and I am receiving the same pay as before.

The company's taking advantage of you. If that goes on, I too would think of quitting.
