What would you give up for a stranger?

I was reading an article this morning on Yahoo about a young man in college who was giving up his college athletic career to help a total stranger.
He had signed up to be a bone marrow donor at one point and had given a mouth swab for DNA. He then promptly forgot about it and went on with his life. He had been told that there was a one in five million chance of a non family member to be a match for someone.
He got the call to come in for more tests and it was found he was a match for a young man, 28 years old.
It meant him giving up his college career in his chosen sport but he didn't think twice, he would do it.
Do you think you could make the same decision? A chance to save someones life... I like to think I would do it. I think this would be one of those things that you would have to come face to face with to really know if you would be all in, no matter what. A chance to save the life of a stranger, would you do it?

True, it's not easy to give up something for a total stranger. But I would hope that someone could do such a thing if I was the one in need. So I like to think I would do it for someone. I guess we won't know until the time comes, if it ever does.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Well good for him. He gave up his earthly desire to help a complete stranger. He will be blessed for that. I don't think that I would have gone as far as to give up something so crucial to my future well being but I guess it all depends on what I felt like that day. Some days I'm willing to give, while other days I am selfish.

That's a good honest answer. Some days I guess we just might not be "in the mood" to set our own desires aside for the good of some one else. Like I said, I guess we don't really know until we are faced with it.
