Naps

The Cutest Napper Ever - This is my little niece Amyra taking a nap. My sister sent me this picture.

Oh, naps. I do so love them. I don't sleep well at night, but I rarely nap. So when I do get a nap I'm happy. The weirdest place I've taken a nap was at the dentist when I was having a root canal. I asked it if was okay, and the dentist was like, yes, but I doubt you'll sleep. Oh, I slept! Do you get naps? Where is the worst or weirdest place you've taken one? I've included a picture of who I consider the cutest napper ever.

I don't sleep well either but if I take a nap, I feel lousy the rest of the day. For some reason it makes me feel more tired...isn't that weird? I don't think I've slept in really weird places for a nap, nothing I can recall anyways. I can't even imagine how in the world you slept through a root canal. I've never had one but from what everyone says, they're so painful so it's mind boggling to me that you could sleep, lol! That photo is just precious and she is just adorable. Who is the little sweetie?

I understand what you are saying. I can remember several times when I was younger taking naps and waking up and feeling worse than I did prior to the nap. That is not a good feeling. Because I had been up two days straight before the root canal, I think that helped me go to sleep. I mean back then I got less sleep than I do now. The little cutie is my niece, Amyra. My sister and BIL adopted her officially in December, but she has been with them for an entire year. She's the light of all our lives. She was a preemie so she was in the hospital until she was 7 months old. Then she was in a temp foster home for a month and a half before my sister and BIL were introduced to her. Then they got to take her home.

She was 3 1/2 months premature (thanks to her teenage mother getting into a fight with another teenage girl that triggered labor). She had a hole in her heart and was on oxygen until she was 14 months because of her underdeveloped lungs. They fixed the hole in her heart about three months ago. She did wonderfully. Now the only health issue she has is her micky hole. That's what the doctors call it. It's a hole in her stomach where they feed her through. They will close it up when she can eat her food 90% through her mouth. Right now they have her eating about 70% of her food through her mouth. She couldn't swallow for a while because of her lungs which is why they had the hole. Through all of that she was the most smiley baby you've ever seen. And very attentive. She certainly is a blessing, and I think has helped my dad tremendously. I wanted something to happen to give him something to live for, and I think a grandchild really helped. He loves her so much. While they had her early on she did go back in the hospital twice because of phneumonia. Those lungs really caused her problems.

I can't figure out why the heck I'm not getting comment notifications from some people....I didn't get this one but thought I'd check and I'm glad I did..hmm. Ohhhh, so you were up for two days before your root canal...bless you girl. I still think I'd be wide awake for that, lol! I'd probably look like a darn zombie but I'd be lookin' him straight in the eyes, hah! So she's your niece...and adopted...that's just so totally awesome. She's so cute and I bet they have a ball with her. She must have been really tiny to stay in the hospital for 7 months. I'm glad they were able to adopt her and all is well.

I have never been big on taking naps. I seem to wake up with a headache and feel icky. I did fall asleep once in the doctors office. She was running way behind and I just zonked out. Guess I needed it.

If I take a long nap I do wake up feeling icky. Sometimes they backfire on a person.

It sure does. The other night I felt like lying on the hard floor. I put a sleeping bag down and stretched out. Sure made my back feel good. I fell asleep and I was so miserable when I woke up.

You know how doctors often charge you fees if you are late or you cancel on them? Well, one time (I had to be about 20), I had waited two hours to get in to see the doctor (he was a specialist, but I don't remember what kind), so when I got inside the room I "teasingly" said that I thought patients should start charging doctors for being late. He did not think that was funny.

Aww, she is a cutie and you slept through a root canal? Seriously? I don't think there are really any weird places I have fallen asleep, unless there was a time when I was young and I don't remember. I would love to take a nap now, but I am so close to finishing my third class for the week, (that will be a first) so I am pushing to finish it before going onto my fourth class...

Prior to the root canal I had been awake two days straight. In those days I suffered from insomnia.

Well, I almost called to cancel because after being up for two days I was finally sleepy. But if you cancel the day of, they charge you a cancelation fee (I've since switched dentists). So I went. And I asked the doctor if he minded if I took a nap. He said sure, but I doubt you'll be able to. He put a little plastic block in my mouth to keep it opened while they worked. I closed my eyes and didn't wake up until they were done and telling me I could go.

Insomnia? and a root canal puts you to sleep? Wow, the reason I can't comprehend this is because I have no fear of the dentist and find it relaxing, but not so tired or relaxed that I'd fall asleep...So, I am curious, what did your dentist think of that?

I tried to nap today.. but didn't. I went up to lie down at 10:30, set the alarm for 11:30 because the bus comes at noon to drop my son off. But Draco was laying on my bed and I had to pet him, and he was purring. He's still a baby, almost a year old now.. so he's usually playful and rarely purrs. So I pet him for half an hour and decided it was too late to try to sleep at that point. I've never napped anywhere weird. I'm the type that needs to be in my bed in order to sleep. So I guess the car or a sofa would be the weirdest place I've ever slept.

Well, if you were able to nap in a car with children I'd say that counts as unusual!

No.. probably not, I haven't slept in a car since I was a kid I think.. but we don't really go on any long car trips anymore. My kids are actually really good in the car. They're usually quiet and just look out the window or whatever. No I don't have one of those DVD things in my car, never have and probably never will.. they watch enough TV at home!

I'm sure the DVD player that is included in cars these days isn't a big deal to most people. But I still consider that part of a luxury car. I'm like oh, a DVD player and TV in the back of a head rest? You must be rich!

I don't sleep well all the time, either and I tend to nap because I figure I ought to sleep when I can! Today I had jury duty and was horrified to find myself dozing off... That would have been one very strange place to nap!

I have slept in the dentist's chair before. I actually find dental visits relaxing, even when I get work done. I also nap while giving platelets, which is okay. It is not okay to nap while giving whole blood. I use to be so tired when working two jobs that I would pull in the driveway and take a little nap before going into the house. I bet the picture is your cute niece, either that or your cute dog.

I wanted to include a dog one, but couldn't see how to do it AND Amyra! lol I like the dentist when they give me laughing gas. It's just too bad they make me inhale the oxygen before they let me leave. That gets rid of the calming effects of the gas. Boo!

Since I lost my job, no, not yet. But when I was working I surely did! I had to. Not only was it physically demanding I did the job of 2 people at times. I wore myself out daily working so hard. Getting up at 2 and 3am to get ready for work didn't help I'm sure, especially if I'd go to bed later than I should have. With working 6 days a week, having to study for my test, running errands, spend time with my family, and still work out, it was impossible for me to go to sleep by 6 or 7pm. So I'd almost always took a nap after work. Good thing I did, or I would have really been burned out! Happy mylotting!

Oh I love my naps too and I have one everyday after work. Since I get up so early I need just a littlke power nap to get me through the evening....on weekends however sometimes they get long which I don't really like as then I feel sluggish afterwards....I think the most unusual place I have had a nap is at a wedding, I was just so tired from all the prewedding activities I just couldn't stay awake.

I believe it was an Asian country, and I want to say Japan, but I'm not sure. They did research showing that employees who take 15 minute naps during the work day were more productive. So they built nap rooms and every employee was allowed to take a 15 minute nap each working day.

You slept in the dentist chair? LOL Omg.... you're too funny! I couldn't ever sleep in a dentist chair because I'm so scared of the shots that they give us! I can handle shots anywhere on my body EXCEPT for my deg gone mouth! So no, nervous me won't be sleeping in the dentist chair! LOL Now for the weirdest place I've ever taken a nap would probably be not so weird and that's in my car while hubby goes in the store. (SORRY! I can't think of anywhere else!)

Why? You dare to be different and I like that because it shows confidence in yourself which I lack. I've gotten better (with age) in my confidence but I think I've reached my highest point but I have to say, I do like myself which has taken me years to do! So dare to be different! Dare to be YOU! That's what's cool!

I love naps! I don't get them as often as I like. I could use one right now, but it is 6:30 pm here right now and that would probably be a bad idea. Weirdest place I have taken a nap? Um....DURING labor! I was falling asleep between contractions when I was in labor with my son. Amyra is cute for sure! I wish I could sleep that peacefully.

I have been taking naps since the last 30 years and that too only in the afternoon, after lunch. This started in 1983 when i went to Muscat,Oman, where i went for a job. It is a practice in Gulf states to sleep after lunch for a couple of hours and then once again start working. This afternoon nap refreshes you and makes you work harder and longer. After i returned to my country i continued the habit and i do it even now.I don't nap at any other time except that after lunch. This short nap does not affect my night sleep though now with growing age i tend to sleep a little less than before.

aaawwwww! that is the cutest napper. im like you i seldom sleep and if i dose off and nothing wakes me for at least an hour, im usually pretty happy. altho there are times i feel even more groggy after a nap id say the weirdest place was years ago when id left my 2nd husband and i was on a bus from cleveland to portsmouth a few hundred miles and my 4 year old was asleep on my lap and the bus driver woke me up on his last stop in kentucky i was so upset and crying, he gave me an extention ticket to go back to where i was supposed to get off. but i had to wait in a bus station with a 4yr old for 3 hours.

I napped during an MRI-through all the noise! And one time I was so tired, I just laid down on the floor in my family room, not far from my dads table saw that he was using, and slept through that. I did fall asleep having six teeth pulled-I regretted waking up because my mouth hurt after everything wore off! My last root canal has caused me all sorts of problems. This one required a post-but they left something that is irritated my jaw. I now have to have oral surgery to remove it and have a bridge installed. I've never been able to sleep then-just when I have gas and my teeth are being drilled.

In the past I didn't need to have a nap. But as time goes by, I need it. Nowadays I often have a nap in the lunch break. It will make me have more energy to work in the afternoon. Especially I often go to sleep very late at night. I need more rest in the daytime.

There is no one like the cutest napper ever! She is unique. I've just had a nap. Was awake by five am and could not get back to sleep. So about 1.30pm after some lunch I had a nap gor about 30 minutes and feel great. Now. I loathe dentists and am amazed that you fell asleep in the chair. I could never have done that. My sure fire way to get a nap is to turn the tv down lowish and ear a sleep mask. With a sleep mask I can nap. I cannot manage to sleep without it as it gets light in the mornings out here. 6am and in the summer it is after 5 am. Too early. So a sleep mask is my answer. I suppose I have napped on planes nad in cars but do not remember anywhere that might be considered weird

Soon after lunch my eyes just close and I sleep for about half an hour. This is a routine with me. Nothing weird about it though. But occasionally if I am watching a tv programme after lunch then I lie down on the couch in front of the tv and just doze off there.

I do not usually have my nap in the day as well. I used to be awaken in the middle of my sleep everynight and always needed some time to fall asleep again. And I get up around 5.30 AM in the morning. So sometimes I feel very sleep in the day but I would not sleep. However, there are many times I dozed off while "MyLotting or watching TV" during the day . In that way, I did get a little nap as well !
