I also do the same thing. I hate seeing crumpled/folded pages. I want my books to be in good condition even after so many years.

That is exactly what I mean. I hate throwing out books. If I were to have a big house, I would surely have a big library to preserve all the books I have. Well, I am not into reading that much lately, but I have kept well all the old school books of my kids in helping them with school works as reference.

i also want to have my own library. it can just be a room where there are some computer units and shelves of great books organized in such a manner that it's listed in the computer.

Lately I have borrowed many books from the library. The books are new and therefore I don't want to fold them, especially they are not my books. They belong to the library. I shall try to keep them well so that others can read these books. I will use a paper as a bookmark. But I like to DIY a nice bookmark by myself.

Oh that makes the two of us. I hate to see dog ears on the pages of my books, especially if the book I lent to a friend is my favorite, and then it will be returned to me full of dog ears and the spine is already wrinkled. I take care of my books and I hope that those who borrow mine will also take care of it, and return it even. I had some unfortunate experiences of never seeing again the books that I lent out.

I'm the opposite I always fold the pages in the corner as it doesn't bother me. Bookmarks are probably more common, but if I were you I wouldn't feel bad about not finishing a book in one sitting. I don't think many people do that unless they are on a long journey, like a plane, boat, bus, train etc.
If it is a novella or short story I can see it but I read a lot and rarely if ever would finish a novel or book in one sitting.

I love bookmarks too, as I don't want to ruin books by folding or crumpling the pages. I have a lot of bookmarks I've owned for a long time, including a couple cable knit ones made by myself... they're really pretty.

Hello Iluvu, I´m glad to read you. I love bookmarks too. Indeed yesterday I felt very sad when I noticed that my husband returned my borrowed book to the library with my bookmarks.
He didn´t ask me if I want it to be returned or borrowed again. We had a misunderstanding. But foolish me: I love my bookmarks that I felt sad of loosing them. I´ll have a chance to buy new ones.
We should care books always. My mother and teachers taught me that it was rude not caring for them. We learn a lot of things from.
Blessings Iluvu... dainy

Hi I use bookmarks too. I love them. I have more than 200 bookmarks in my collection. I don't complete a book in a go. I take more time to assimilate all the contents of the book. So I use bookmarks. I buy all my books from online book stores. So I receive bookmarks along with the books.

I also love reading and hate to fold the page when I have to attend to something and put the book down. That is why I have lots of bookmarks! My favorite is the magnetic bookmarks and my husband gave me one and that has been my favorite for months now!

Hi there! I have to agree with you. Especially if you keep on folding the same page over again, it will be torn in no time. Such a waste of a good book, if that happens. I now enjoying the creative bookmarks available online. One design is a hand pointer, the other is a hole directly over the word you stopped. Others come in tree, with a flashlight, neon colors and more. Thanks for the discussion :)

i haven't seen that unique bookmarks. i just buy the ones in the book stores and most of the time, they are just rectangular card boards with a small string on it.
