It is another 6 to 7-hour boat ride for me to another island tonight. Really, traveling by any means isn't just my cup of tea. It is so tiresome and most uncomfortable as I am scared of things like this. My paranoia would shoot up whenever I travel, but I have to do it for family reasons. My family needs me to be there so I have to be there no matter what. I will make this sacrifice for the sake of my family. Would you do this for a family member? Share your thoughts.

i think that's the difference when you live in the province. i live in metro manila and used to land travel when going out of town. the longest i've been on a banca was like 20 mins many years ago. my sister said only 5 mins, maybe so i don't get scared. i really think it should be mandatory to wear life jackets.

If it was for any of my family members, apart from my mother I certainly wouldn't! Seeing as I have finally washed my hands of the lot of them, and none of them deserve a single minute of my time. But hey I am sure your situation is so much different, that 6 to 7 boat ride would put me off, forgive me for my ignorance, but is there no way you could get a plane? Again I am sorry but my geographical knowledge isn't that good. I hope they appreciate the sacrifice you are making for them! Wish you a safe and as comfortable journey as possible my friend.

If it is a must then i will but i also do not like boat rides even if it is a big ship or something. I would rather take the airplane as it is the fastest. But if there is no mode of transportation but that then i guess i have no choice.

When I have long trips I just think throughout the night until I'm tired thinking. That way, a ten-hour trip would feel like five hours only. I'm not sure with traveling by boat as I don't have to go to another island. Perhaps I can survive the boat ride if I spend all my time thinking on board til I drift to sleep. I just have to make sure my saliva does not overflow from my mouth.

Of course yes. You would not have been able to write this post right now if they would have failed to afford your education. They spent years in taking care of you. Can't you even make it for 6 to 7 hours for them? I think it's not a sacrifice; it's your duty first.

Absolutely. I would even do it for my friends.
Unlike you, I like travelling. I don't mind the long hour travel. In fact, i enjoy long travels than shorter ones.

Sorry to hear that you have to travel when you don't like it. I would love to be able to travel more. Yes I would travel for my family.

Family needs is important though but if it is always to travel by boat it will not be favorable to me. I am phobia of floating on water for hours . I will resort to land travel if given a choice .

I don't mind traveling as long as it is at night. That way if it is a long journey I can sleep easily as I can't stand long journeys during the day, with the sunlight, the noise and the talking.
Thinking about it now actually makes me want to go on a long journey as I enjoy the experience and excitement of going to new places.
To answer your question, I don't know if I would do this for a family member. It would depend on which one it was, my relationship with them and the issue that had arisen. I don't abide by the "it's family so I HAVE to" rule.

I don't have a problem of traveling but just don't feel good if I have to travel alone.
I am living far from my family and I usually travel to see them every other month. I do not enjoy that much for traveling alone but traveling with friend would be no problem for me.
Another thing that might stir up my worrying for traveling is the distance. If I have to travel from one continent to another that I may worry a bit but it is depending on where it is too. If I have to go the place that I have been before that is no problem.
I will do as you did, do it for the family member.
