what is the "Cand. Scient Thesis"mean?

I was search a paper,and got it. when I read it ,I found some words:"Cand. Scient Thesis" in the paper's first page. I am so curious what it mean. and it says "written for "Candidatus Scientiarum (Cand. Scient) degree". Does Cand.Scient degree in Norway mean the master degree?
