Today one of my father in law friend visited him here at home because she really want to know if my FIL really doing well but while preparing my FIL for a bath she interrupted me and started to pointed some things to do which was related. She also called her sister who is a nurse too working in US to asked if I am doing the right thing. Actually I freak out and told her this " I am a nurse, I know what I am doing, I know your sister is a nurse too but she is not here and we both have same knowledge in taking care a patient and I think I have more experience in bedside care than to her". My husband got really mad and asked her to leave. I admit I am not a perfect person but when taking care of a patient I am doing the best I can to make them better. I know I shouldn't freaked out but i think she need to know where to stand after all we do not have any relation to her. Have a good day!

Hi, Bhehelen! I can understand how you have felt. It was downright insulting to be treated that way. I was also away for about a week to take care of my mother in law in the hospital. She had pneumonia. What makes me mad is that my brother in law who happens to be a doctor would be telling bad things about the doctors who treated their mother. As if he knows everything when he has not been able to have a chance to work on a hospital! he keeps on insulting the doctors and he would not follow the home care instructions that the doctors have left her mother. Of all doctors, he is the only one who would recommend eating on a buffet restaurant for a diabetic person!

That is what we have all told him. But he refuses to put up his own clinic coz he says that the amount of time that he puts up with it is not enough with the amount that he would earn. That made me go ballistic with his reasoning. His mom is blinded with all his reasons. I told my mother in law that the profession means SERVICE and not to be a treasure chest of gold unless he has proven himself to be a really great doctor, then he can make himself a name in the Medical World.

pneumonia also? i've always associated it with the rainy season. times have changed. so your brother in law is a doctor in name only, someone who's never actually "been in battle."

Good day Bhebelen14, Honestly, your main topic title caught my attention, "I know what I am doing". This is because, this line is the favorite line of the President of the Home Owners where I used to work before. That, even I have tried my best to be polite and courteous, still he always act defensively. And he always told me that, I know what I am doing. Anyway, with that of your situation, I guess, what you have done is just a normal thing.
