Well a new day is before us and I hope everyone is doing well. My morning started with having problems with my laptop. I have it up and going as you can see. I sure hope it doesn't act up any more.
I have to go and clean Gus' house this morning. I love going out there. He is 92 years old and still quite lively. He tells me stories of his life that is quite interesting. He is definitely well known around here as he has lived here all his life. I am going to ask him if he minds that I share some of his stories. Maybe I will have some exciting stories to share later.
Have a great day and I will see you all later.

Hi ladies. I hope you have had a great day. I will start sharing stories next week. Gus has some that he said he doesn't mind me sharing. We couldn't really talk today as he had appointments. But Monday the yard work starts and he said that is also story telling time.

You have gotten high respects from me! Anybody who thinks of older folks the way you do has high respect! I LOVE talking to older folks because they've already been there and done that but in a different way and different time. Their insight is very much something to listen to and it can be interesting too. I wish so much that I had recorded my grandmother and grandfather's stories before they passed. The same goes for my mom and dad too but I was so wrapped up in caring for them that I just didn't think about it till it was too late.
I like you a lot. You're a good good hearted person! (not trying to be funny but being truthful)

I must say, young lady, you stopped me in my tracks with your kind words. I have tears in my eyes, good tears, from what you have said. I too, wish I had recorded my mom's and both grandparents life. All I can do is write down what I remember. I have always dealt with the elderly and love them so much. Years ago I had the pleasure of taping conversations with two elderly ladies. I have their life on tape. It is there and the family knows it if they ever want it. Start writing your life down so you will have it to pass on. Don't wait for others to ask for it.

YOUNG lady? Your point score just sky rocketed! I'm not young anymore sweets but I do appreciate your sentiments! Now I've got to ask you, how did you get involved with the older folks? I'm more of a homebody.... to be honest, the shy type because I'm legally deaf so I don't get out much but would LOVE LOVE to visit the older folks and just sit and talk with them if nothing else. Someone told me to go to an nursing home but those places are so depressing but there again, those people need us too, I know but it's hard. ARG!
About my life story, I started to write a journal and maybe later a book of my life but I stopped when my husband went to Korea for a year and I had EVERYTHING to do myself and then a friend hurt me very deeply so I went into a horrible depression and just never got back into doing it. Since then we've moved from Texas to Arkansas and then to where we are now which is North Carolina so it's been 14 years since I've wrote anything in my journal. I should pick it back up and get started on my book but then I got to thinking, If I write this book, it's going to have a lot and I do mean a lot of not so good stuff in it but it would be truthful but hurtful things in it that could get me into a lot of trouble with my family so, should I shouldn't I should I shouldn't I? I don't know. I think it would be a great healing experience for me but at the same time, I'm not into hurting someone else while in the process. Oh damn these catch 22's! But it is and would be about MY life and the truth's that no one knew but should I tell....

I love listening to older people talk about their lives and the times they grew up in. My Granny was such a wealth of information. I hope that Gus will let you share some of his stories!

Good morning to you velvet. Glad your laptop problems are solved. I would love to meet Gus and one day you should encourage him to record his stories as stuff gets distorted over time. I am a storyteller too, I suppose. But I have been all of my adult life. Have a great day

I LOVE elderly people. The lives they have lived are quite amazing at times. I remember years ago they matched up some college kids to take some teenagers in our church to go visit the elderly people in our congregation. The woman we visited told us stories about when she was in the circus. The circus! She had pictures and everything. No one had any idea she had done that. But it was so cool to find out.

It is amazing at the stories we hear. The 82 year old lady that I help out is always telling me stories also. To look at her you would never think she had done some of those things, I love it! I have a pretty good memory when it comes to stories I have been told. They are so fun.

I will be excited if he says you can share some of his stories here! I have always wanted to hear some elderly people's stories, I imagine they would be amazing. I used to want to work in an elderly home but I would not want to get close to them and then have them pass away. That would break my heart!
I am glad your laptop is working so you can be here with us.

The stories will start next week. I am sure there are some elderly people around you that would live to share their life with you. Just check around. It is hard when they pass on but you will have those wonderful memories.
I'm glad this thing is working too. I dont like when it gives me trouble. Take care and smile.

They can be a pain at times. I love listening to people telling about their life, especially the elderlies. They lived a life that I don't even know about. I have done this before and was able to record some of them. I have their life if their family wants it.
