While this upcoming show presents some intriguing possibilities, it also raises some questions about just how they are going to set it up. The trailers and previews show the dome just suddenly appearing so fast that a house is cut in half, an airplane crashes into the barrier it presents as does a truck. They also show a female cop or fighter inside the dome trying to talk to a firefighter, I think that was who it was, about people being hurt and needing help and he is saying he can't hear her. All this indicates a very impenetrable barrier that sound can't even get through. So if sound can't get through that means it will not vibrate and also that air does not pass through since that is what carries sound. So if air can't pass through, it seems that eventually and not all that long either, the people trapped inside will run out of oxygen. Also, since it is so impenetrable, rain probably can't pass through either which means the plant life will die and the people will run out of water perhaps even before running out of oxygen. Even if the small town gets it's water from wells eventually they will use it up since the barrier will keep water from entering to replenish the well water. They say no way out and no way in which means the water couldn't get in below ground to supply the wells because if it could then people on the outside could tunnel in. So I am wondering just how they will handle all these things so that the people trapped inside the dome will live long enough for the series to last any length of time.

I have this book but have yet to read it. Stephen King in the past has written stories based on some traditional horror concepts like vampires, werewolves, and such. The premise of this movie reminds me of an old Twilight Zone episode in which case a whole neighborhood is taken away by aliens from outer space who then try to create paranoia among the captured people. The aliens did this as a test project to see if it could be done on a more wide spread scale to take over the Earth and the conclusion was that it WOULD work.

I saw the Twilight Zone episode and like to watch the reruns. Two weeks ago it took me almost 20 minutes to figure out who the stars were in the episode that I missed the beginning.

That episode was called "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street" and Tme magazine ranked it as one of the 10 best episodes of the show. I remember that is starred Claude Akins who usually played the heavy in different movies or TV shows, with a notable exception for him as Sheriff Lobo. Jack Weston was also in the episode. He usually was a character actor in comedies. He was in another episode of the Twilight Zone called "The Bard" where he play a hck writer who usese magic to summon up Shakespeare and gets to write TV plays for him. Barry Atwater, who was also in the Maple Street episode did a lot of TV guest shots but two that are notable for me are appearing as the vampire in the original TV movie "The Night Stalker" and he also played a Vulcan in an episode of the original Star Trek.

Okay, Stealthy...calm down! This is just a prime time soap opera! And you are a pro at understanding/figuring soaps so, bring it down a notch and watch it for the fun of it!!! At least there will be no "Luke and Laura" to deal with!!!!!

I like Luke and Laura of General Hospital. Luke's wild hair days brings back lots of memories of years ago. I sure miss the first Edward sadly now 2 Edward's have passed away. I don't watch the show now miss the originals.

I'm looking forward to this one. It'll be interesting to see just how the concept is explored. If, for instance, the Dome is a deliberate creation (by human, alien, or supernatural source), it might be selectively permeable in some circumstances which could take care of the air/water issue.

Is this based on the Stephen King novel? Oh my God. This is the first time I've heard of this. I wish I can watch this soon.

Just started the series and appears to be the usual slow boil in typical King fashion and will be a mystery to savour throughout.

I saw the previews and decided to watch and then see whether it will be a show I'll add to my watch list. I'm really on the fence about this show now. Its a summer show and I do watch less television on network channels. I'm usually on the USA Network, if I'm watching television.

Sounds like it will be fun to watch. I did see some previews for it and it does look interesting. I just hope it turns out to be as good as it looks. I've been fooled before, haha, many times.

This show does look interesting. It will be interesting to see what they do with the elements you have mentioned. Will it be an idiotic, doesn't make sense farce or a inovative and different show? We will have to wait and see.
