I hate mating socks

There are chores I don't mind doing, and then there are some that I absolutely hate doing. One of them is mating socks. It's such a tedious chore. When you have a massive pile of them, sitting on the floor in front of you, and then you have to sure for a lone mate among the millions there. I know it would be easier to get socks for the kids if all I had to do was grab a pair that's already been mated, and there are times that I do mate the socks. However, like I said, it's such a tedious task that I usually just throw the socks into a basket, and pick through them when I need a pair. Sometimes it's easy, sometimes it's not. I just have to deal with it as I need to. Although, there are times I would just love to chuck them all and start anew.

Oh, I don't mind mating socks, more precisely, because I don't have too many socks waiting for me to mate them. And I usually buy a dozen of socks those are the same, so I even don't need to mate them at all. :P Maybe you can think about of this way too! LOL

I could almost do that, but I have 3 children (2 boys and a girl), me and my husband. We have so many socks, it can be a mess.

It is a tedious chore, but it is not too bad for me although I have four kids. I just match them as soon as they come out of dryer. For the one or two lone mates, I'd just set them aside until I find its pair which usually in the next batch of laundry. I hate ironing more. It makes me so sleepy no matter what time I do it.

I know I should do that when I pulled them out of the dryer, but sometimes I'm just not into the mood to stand there, matching socks. I just throw them into a basket, and pay for it later.

I find mating the socks a tedious chore too. It's very frustrating especially when I still couldn't find the right match even though I had checked every piece of it. So, I try to simplify the chore in these ways. I try to buy more socks of same type or same colour. People could hardly tell the difference if they almost look alike. And I will discard or put aside those that I couldn't find a match. I will put on those I could a match easily first.

Ugh! I hate matching socks too. It's such a PITA! I'd love to get rid of the ones we don't need, but my husband won't let me. Ah, to be able to start anew sounds like a dream come true. However, I know that dream would eventually end and I'd have to start all over again! I think that sock companies know what a chore it is too. Heck, that's probably how they make all their money! Just kidding...well, sort of! Happy mylotting!

IT is such a tedious and time demanding chore that is certain. A few things you can try is for each member of the house get one of those small mesh bags and have them put their socks in their individual bag. Wash the socks and bag all at once together and you will have a smaller pair of piles to match. Another thing is have your family members put their socks together with a small pin. I find it much easier to use the bag idea at our home.

I know what you mean. And I don;t know which is worse, mating socks, or hunting for its mate. I swear when I thrown in socks in the washer, they all have their mates. But when I pull them out, a couple of socks end up having no mates at all!

We do the laundry here unlike what most of you in the US would do. There are only a few people who might be using the kind of washing machine that you use because the maids do this chore. So as soon as clothes have come out from the dryer, we air dry them by hanging them outside of our house. I often put the pair of socks together so that it won't be difficult to pair them up when I wold be placing them back into the kids' drawers.
