Hey there myLotters!
As a quest in in searching job, I also tried looking for jobs online. I had visited some of the most popular online job advertisement sites such as jobstreet, workabroad, mynimo.
I submitted 10 application on jobstreet but one of my application got rejected. It was so devastating. I browsed on their site and look for the status of my application, some of them were still on pending and some were received by employers and waiting to be accepted.
Have you tried applying on online job advertisement? Were you hired? Do you know the chances of being hired online? Please do share your thoughts.

I also applied theough Jobstreet since it's more convenient and I don't have to manually submit my resume :) I also got a few calls and rejected applications so it's normal. That's part of the process.
Looking for a job does takes time so you have to be patient :)
Good luck!

We just have to accept reality. Oh well. It's just another lesson learned.

I got my first working stint from Jobstreet and they recommended me to apply at HSBC which I was hired right after taking a series of exams and interviews.
Have you tried working online? Try creating an account at Odesk. That might help you while waiting for a real offline job.

Great! So did you apply for a Priority Application on Jobstreet?
I tried oDesk, but then it is not for me. I don't have the enough skills.

I don't think I did apply for a priority application. I am not sure if there was such kind 7 years ago. I just submitted my application and got a message from them after a few days.
I don't have the skills for an online job compared to most of the applicants in Odesk. Although I have worked in a call center, I don't think it was enough really. I just took the chance and luckily got few jobs from there. I learned along the way.

Oh... I think the competition on jobstreet before is not that tough. I think today it's getting tough since most people know about this.
Good for you that were hired on oDesk. I think it is for you.

helo my lotters... we are lucky we have mylot, otherwise there are a lot of fake web sites and scame online jobs, whom aim is just taking out money of our pockets..so be care full and never apply online on those sites which are not relieble..i think which sites ask some money for registration these are mostly fake, because if a company is going to pay us for onlion networking why should they ask for money in advance.

Hey there! I'm the type of person who is really very cautious in everything I do. Just so you know, when I posted my application online I received too many Text message that I was hired and I have to pay a partial amount. What I did is that I just ignored the text message. I'm not that stupid enough.

Hi there,
I understand your situation at the moment. My boyfriend is looking for a job by searching online too. I have been 2 months until now, he haven't get a job yet. There are some asked him for an interview, some asked for more academic documents. He try to send the application everyday. Most of the companies that he send the application form just never reply at all.
Sometime you don't want to do anymore but there is no other way to get a job. You may want to use old version by walk-in but I assume that if you are jobless at the moment you will have limitation on your budget too.

True! It really hard to be a walk-in applicant when you do have a limited money. Hope that your boyfriend will land a job.

It's glad to know that you are exploring all the means available in order to get a good job online. I never tried applying to those sites because I am just looking for some ways that I can do during my free time. I mean I cannot enter into a contract because I might not able to follow it.
But I know that applying on online can give you more chances because of the wide available opportunities which you could choose from. What particular job did you applied for? Don't they give you the reason for rejecting your application?
Have a great day!

I live in the province. Searching for a job online is the best and convenient way. I applied for a job that is realated to my profession. I applied as a Nurse. They just told me that I was not part of their short-listed. That's it.

searching for jobs online is more convenient and less time consuming. unfortunately, for every job offer, there are hundreds if not thousands of applicants. one out of ten is a good record. when i was searching for a job a few years ago, some didn't even bother to send me a reply. just keep on trying and very soon you'll find a good job. perseverance has rewards. good luck.
