What do you think of when you hear the word "antimatter?" Something exotic, something unreal? Something about your Chief Engineer not being able to keep the containment fields up during battle?

Hi,
Finally I found a very interesting and fruitful topic for discussion, which really makes some sense.
I will get back to you all soon with more details relating to anti-matter.
I would appreciate all those who responded for this topic of discussion.

I think of the yin and yang of earth. Black and white, matter and antimatter, anger and calmness etc. I also think of the great energy that could potentially be created.
Last but not least,Star Trek. :D

I think it's an exciting topic, right there along with dark matter and dark energy.

Great topic!!! I read a book called "The Anvil of Space" which mentioned a race of beings that actually ate planets, well not literally but with minute bug like machines that turned matter into anti-matter sort of like a vacuum. A bit Sci Fi but sure got the old brain ticking over.

Anti matter is an opposite to matter , its existence has been proved , it is an interesting proposition just imagine what it holds instore for us if we could separate antimatter then the combination of matter and anit matter would generate tremendous amounts of energy then only sky would be the limit

Its an interesting concept. My husband and daughter are big sci-fi fans and could probably spout non-stop about antimatter and it's futuristic applications. When I hear it though, I just think of Star Trek. Amazing things, but I'll let someone else deal with the physics of it.
