HI Kmz, yes.. I have already heard of Bangus festival. I am a Tourism graduate and during my stay in college we have covered all the famous festivals in the Philippines. In fact, my thesis was about Pahiyas Festival in Lucban. It is one of the most famous and colorful festival in the country. I am from Quezon province that is why I have picked this topic and I wanted to make this province gain more popularity. There is so much to do in Lucban. Apart from pahiyas festival, you can visit kamay ni Hesus or savor the famous langgonisang lucban or pancit habhab. I am looking forward to experiencing Bangus festival too. Hopefully, i would be able to go to Dagupan next year to celebrate the festival. Moreover, bangus (milkfish) is one of my favorites especially sinigang na bangs.

Yes, I think that is a good festival. I love the milkfish a lot. You should be really proud that your place supplies abundant bangus fish for people to consume.

Hi, We have similar even here but not as widespread as in your place. In the neighboring town, there was this marine park, a twenty hectare lagoon in Macajalar Bay where fish cages ten by ten meters were anchored in ten, twenty fathoms deep buoyed up by empty oil drum and the milkfish fingerlings were contained in a net suspended along the bamboo poles. It is like a mixture of artificial fattening in a natural growing environment where the water does not become stagnant, the endemic species also growing fat from excess feed that manage to settle down to the bottom. In spite of the grand harvest occurring every now and then, the price of milkfish here is still high around Php150/kilogram few can only afford for daily consumption. The quality, though, is top notch having been grown as close to their natural habitat as possible. I don't know how you grow your milkfishes over there, maybe a mini description of the process could help in a sort of technology transfer here.

My father comes from Dagupan and I have visited the place several times in the past. One thing I really miss about Dagupan is bangus. Of all the fishes offered in the market, my favorite is bangus but it doesn't compare with the taste of fresh Dagupan bangus. I remember a restaurant where we used to eat that offers "inihaw na bangus" with bagoong. There was no bangus festival back then but I remember Dagupan as a bustling city.

I have heard of this festival but never gotten to actually witness it firsthand. It is one of the festivals in the Philippines that I really want to participate, especially in partaking the roasted milkfish on the streets. Since we just live in Manila and Pangasinan is just a couple of hours' drive away, it is very feasible for us to be there and enjoy. But for the life of me, I can't understand why when things like this happen, we have to attend to something else. Until I have to move to another country and now I regret to say that it will be awhile before I can experience this.
