What has helped you lose weight?

I have been trying to lose weight and it just seems to be taking a long time. I started in February watching what I eat and trying to fit more exercising in my schedule. But I haven't lost much weight. What has helped you? With the weather getting nicer I plan to start walking more and hopefully doing more exercises in the house.

I've always been thin, and, given how I eat most of the time, there is no danger of me ever being overweight. I eat a primarily vegetarian diet (with a bit of fish maybe three or four times a month) that features a lot of fresh, local vegetables. I don't add refined sugar to my food. I use natural sweeteners instead in my cooking. I also like to add heat to my food in the form of hot peppers; this, of course, keeps my metabolism high. That isn't why I do it, but that is the end result.

I'm glad to hear that you have a good way of staying in shape. In our house we have been working on incorporating more vegetarian recipes throughout the week. This has helped us to eat healthier as well as stay away from processed foods. It also has lowered my calorie in take. I have been working on only making one sweet dessert that will last the whole weekend. That keeps us from eating some type of dessert every night. Refined sugar does make it hard to lose weight. So I have been lowering that in my coffee as well as trying to avoid pop.

Hi Mominique25, I do my best to have 40 min or so of evening walk around the neighborhood regularly. Cutting down the amount of eating sweet and fatty food would bring great help to lose weight It's rather difficult initially as chocolate and cheese cake as well as cheese and milk coffee and roast chicken are all my favorite food Anyway for healthy sake I have to force myself to take a little only. It's yet better than to stop eating all of them lol... Happy posting

everyone knows very well saying is easy whereas doing is difficult! I believe we could do it successfully following our well planned schedule persistently step by step. Starting to do the easy and convenient first like cutting down the amount of sweet desserts taking daily, do our best not to rely on vehicle solely, and have more walking to short distance destination, etc. Let's strive for goal until succeed

Yes the things you listed all sound really good. I will try to work on walking more. I know that it will benefit me if I exercise more along with eating right. I think those two things go really good together. Yeah we can have sweet things every now and then. I'm working on making only one sweet dessert on friday evening to last the weekend. And throughout the week we have to have a healthy type dessert.

Inspiration helped me a lot. I hang one of the dress that I really wish to wear in my bedroom- right at the back of my door. Each time I saw it, it inspires me to lose weight and keep me off from unwanted foods or having extra food. And I can say that it really works for me.

It takes time. You haven't Been at it that long:) Lots of fruits and veggies. Stay away from sugar that's not natural sugar. Something sweet once a week won't hurt;) Lean more towards organic, I know how hard that can be and expensive... Here at least. Water water water!!! Seriously water! Move, just move. Walk or jog in place. Do some jumping jacks while watching tv. Go for walks. You'll do great:)

Thanks! I hope that eventually I will be able to reach my goal. It just all takes time. I have been doing good about staying away from sugar. And I have been working on staying away from process foods and just trying to eat things natural without adding stuff to it. I could definitely work on drinking more water. I'm not a big fan of water but I should work it, it's suppose to help our bodies in a lot of ways.

Thanks! I will keep working on eating fruits and vegetables. I know these things are good for me and that they will help me to lose weight. They don't have a lot of calories to them so it is good to eat these foods throughout the day. I will also work on eating smaller portions.

Discipline is the best to lose weight. If you want to lose weight you discipline yourself from eating and have proper exercise.

I agree with you. It is very important for us to be self disciplined. This quality can help us in a lot of different areas in our life. We have to watch the types of food we buy and keep with a routine of exercise.

I am overweight, and I have lost some weight, and then end up putting some of it back on again. I just haven't found anything that will help me to lose weight and keep it off. I am on a yo you weight loss, where it goes up and down, and I cann never decide what my weight really is. I do try to eat properly, and that can be hard to do at times, as there are lots of food out there that are so tempting to eat, and really aren't all that great for me. I will not give up though, as I know I can do it, as I do believe it takes a lot of willpower to be able to meet my goals in my weigh loss program. I drink my fuits every morning, and i think that does help too, plus, I do eat celery sticks and baby carrots. I know I will get there in time, as it doesn't happen overnight. I didn't put it on overnight, and I won't take it off overnight either. Take care, and have a very good day.

I will keep trying to work on exercising along with eating right. I think that both of these things together will help me to feel better about what I'm able to do and accomplish. I do hope that over time I will be able to see some results.

I want to lose my weight, too. And in fact I have tried a lot of ways such as eating less and doing more sports. In my opnion, running is the best way that has helped me lose weight. At the begining, maybe you will be upset bacuase it seems nothing happens in your weight. But if you keep doing this, you will get a big surprise when you find yourself really lost weight.

Thanks! I really appreciate that. I hope that I will start to see a difference as I continue to do these things. Sometimes it's making some type of life change (doing these things even after we reach our goal) that can help us to lose the most weight. I will continue to work at this and perhaps I should get a new weight scale because this one may not be working properly.

I will have to keep my motivation up so that I can do this. It can be hard when family and friends are making cakes, pies, and etc and I'm trying to stay away from things like that. Then it makes me want to bake something really good like that. But I'm trying to keep the right mindset and remember why I want to eat this way and lose weight.

I've tried losing weight on purpose, but it makes me depressed and unhappy. So although I might lose some pounds that way, I would always get it back by eating more afterwards. So now I no longer keep a diet on purpose, and live with the fact that I am a little 'chubby', and I gradually lose weight not because I did it consciously, but because I was busy with my own business. We've learned so much about how to lose weight, but it doesn't work on me. I think for me, losing weight should come natually.

But it depends, as some friends of mine kept a diet and do exercises on purpose, and they could lose weight in a short time! I admire them, and maybe one day I could be as unremitting as them, who knows! Good luck! You'll find a way that suits you most!:)

I'm glad to hear that you have been able to lose weight that way. I will have to definitely work on the lemon juice with water. That may help me a lot more than I have been thinking about.

Stress makes me lose weight. When I am under a lot of stress, my weight goes down naturally. Being sick also makes me lose weight. Just this month I had cold and followed by cough. My weight had gone down about 3-4kg.

I wish that being under stress would help me lose weight. I have been under a great deal of stress lately but still haven't lost much weight. I will keep doing my best to eat right, and to exercise more especially when the weather is nice.

I was always slim and never tried having a diet to lose weight before. However, when I started working as an online instructor, I was sitting all the time and began gaining weight. I was 57 kg last January and my students offline always asked me to have a diet. They said I'm getting bigger and looking like a 'pig' (as Koreans say it) hahaha! Because I heard those kinds of comments everyday from them, I felt a little uncomfortable and tried to do some diet. I just did an after six (didn't eat anything from six pm), I did that for almost 3 weeks. I also ate rice only at lunchtime. After at least 2 weeks, my students began to notice that I'm getting slimmer. It's already April and I stopped doing after 6. Hoho! Anyway, I checked last Thursday and I weighed 49 kg. I don't know if it's good or bad after doing something to lose weight but it's enough for me.. Hihi!

Glad to hear that you have always been thin and haven't had to diet. This is my first real diet that I'm trying. In the past I was thinner and didn't worry about dieting. After I got pregnant and being more at home instead of out and about has contributed to me now needing to diet. I'm not drastically overweight or anything like that but I do need to lose some weight. Glad to hear that you lost that weight. I will need to work on not eating after six. I think that can be hard but I should work on it and see if it helps me lose weight. Thanks for the suggestion I appreciate it.
