Do you think politics should be taught in schools?

My friend said that her class was taught based on the professors opinions. I don't think this is right but I don't think that there is anything wrong with teaching politics. I don't understand a lot about politics so I wouldn't mind learning more, but I would want the class to be taught on facts not opinions.
What do you think?

This is a touchy subject for me. Politics is fine to be taught in the schools of they do it the right way. I don't feel there should be a lot of down grading just the true facts. The person teaching this needs not to be one sided as the children would not learn the full meaning and effect of politics.

I agree with what you are saying. It would be difficult be the opinions would need to stay out of it as much as possible. The students would need to be graded accordingly, just the facts not on opinions. A student could risk failing just because they had a different opinion than the professor if this happened. That would not be good, and I think that is not fair.

You are so right. No student should be graded on their opinion if it is different than the teachers. But how many teachers do you think would follow this theory. They would think that their beliefs were tight no matter what. It is a win lose situation.

I think theories, opinions and facts are important when we talk about politics. Because this science based on theory, opinion and fact. I think we have to wise when learn about politics. It is okay which politics was taught in school as log as it shows the theory, opinion and fact in balance portion, so the student really know about the politics.

This is a wise idea. Basically show support for the theories is what is being taught. I think that is important for the students to see and learn. This way the students will be able to learn better and understand the topic of politics. It would be a difficult class to teach but I think it is possible. The professor would need to leave opinions out of it somewhat, even if the opinions were used they couldn't really be taught unless they had facts to back it up. Even then I don't know if you should really talk about your opinion. I guess in a discussion it would be okay to talk about the opinions as long as it was civil, and respectful, and the professorial made sure that the students knew that the opinions were not factual information.

That's the 'education' part of 'school'---finding-out the facts your teacher's opinion is based-on and/or basing your own opinion on the facts and confronting the teacher with them.

Teaching politics in class is a hard thing for teachers. Because they will want to tell students what their opnions are and try to make students have same opnions. Politics are a complex thing an d if teachers only give their students some limited information, students maybe cannot understand politics at all. I think school should teach history, that's the fact. not politics.

I agree that it would be very hard to talk about politics for teachers. The teachers and professors would have to leave their personal opinion out of it, which is sometimes hard to do when talking about politics. I know that people try to push their opinions unto other people that have different opinions and I don't think that is right. I think a person should share their opinion when it is necessary but don't push it unto other people and start a disagreement or argument, but maybe this is why I don't like politics because I don't like disagreements or arguments. I think that everyone should respect others opinions. I also think that teachers would have a difficult time trying to have students keep their opinions out of discussions and other assignments. History should be taught and was always one of my worst subjects, I always had difficult times trying to learn the information and remember it. I almost failed history a few times in high school. I am talking a government class for college and while I know this is different than history, it is still in the same subject category. I do a lot better at the college level with this class, of course I try harder and study more also now.

I don't think it's a good idea to learn politics in schools.I believe that politics are something which do not have standards. What's more,I think politics are made up for everyone's opinions. So I don't think a teacher can teach students politics except his thought. This thought may change the whole life of the student because one man's thought about politics is very important in his life.Sometimes it's good but sometimes students may be brainwashed(teachers may not realize their big influences),especially when students don't have their values.I think politics is something which is better to learn by oneself.By the way,in my country everyone has to learn politics and it becomes one of the most boring subjects :(
