Mother's Day is around the corner and I have no idea what to get my mother. What do you get a mom who has everything? Any suggestions would be so appreciated.

Give her a memory. My mom was thrilled to see and be able to walk through one of the houses she grew up in a few years ago. My sister took pictures of the barn and house and surrounding area and gave them to her as a gift. She was so pleased to be able to revisit her memories clearly just by looking at that collage! Is there a special time she remembers that you can illustrate in some way for her? A picture of a special relative that she doesn't have? Then again, you can make a new memory by taking her someplace special. A unique restaurant, a balloon ride, a visit to a museum or a trip to the theatre to see a popular play or musical would entertain her for years.

My mother and I lived far away, too. One year I sent her a tea party! I packaged up some different teas that I found, some honey packets and sugar which she didn't normally use but would be interesting. I bought English tea cookies, some shortbread covered in chocolate and some other interesting, exotic cookies to include. She and my sister enjoyed it on Mother's Day and she got a few other moments of enjoyment from it, too. She said that was one of the best gifts she'd ever received. Maybe you could do something like that, whether your mom like coffee, tea, or some other type of drink or food?

We don't live in the same state. So it would have to be a gift that I order for her to be delivered or mailed. If I lived near her I wouldn't have a problem. I would take her to a dinner and a play. She would love that!

I like this idea. She loves tea herself. This just might work. Thank you so much for the great idea! Have a great weekend!

My mother would like to have all of us including her grandchildren to go visit her and have a reunion dinner. As for gift, it will be tailoring a new set of dress, blouse and pants for her. Not forgetting, a red packet (red envelop with money) for her to spend on what she likes or fancy. Usually, it will end up buying gifts for her grandchildren, she spends very little on herself because we are all giving her monthly allowance.

I am sure you can talk to her by calling her on the phone or better still, if she's computer literate video chat with all of your children and you. I know how it feels when I have done it while studying abroad and how I missed my parents. I can assure you when everything seems unreachable, everything goes - at least for me. I hope your mother will be happy everyday and wish her all the best in health.

That sounds great. Any mom would be delighted in this. I wish we could all go and visit my mom. She would love it but everyone lives so far away from each other. Its who has to work and who can take off and etc.... A million other reasons it can't happen now.

A gift card to go out to eat or take her out. Your time would probably be enough.

I'm leaning on a gift basket or a gift card. I don't live in the same state as she so that is why I'm having a problem. Thank you!

Thanks so much. I'm sorry your mom was like that, she sounds like my one grandmother. Never liked anything my parents gave her. She was a very cold hearted person.

I seemed to always have the same problem. If she has a garden then maybe some plants for it. Or a nice house plant in a real nice planter. Golly, the things I am coming up with isn't that great. I am the type that likes things for my yard or a neat planter, things like that.

I'm like you I love plants and anything to do with a garden because I have alot going on in my yard. However, my mom is the total opposite she is not into planting at all and has no garden. Thank you anyway and have a great weekend!

Thanks, lelin. I wish you the best in finding the gift that you know she will like. She can't help but like it as it will be from you :)

I think if you cook your Mom's breakfast and serve her in bed on the morning of Mother's Day...buy her a nice book. Give her a certificate to do her laundry for a week, or do her grocery shopping..etc. Mother's don't always need material items to be appreciated..The best gift is one thats thoughtful and kind from the heart...Unless you can give her crisp $100.00 bill and tell her you will take her shopping whenever she is ready to spend it... from one mylotter who is also a Mom....

Maybe I can write her a poem inside a card but then for me flowers are useless because my dad is allergic plus they end up dying so fast. I could get her a plant but she is not good with stuff like that. Oh decisions decisions. Thank you for your input.

I am not sure what to get your mom, however I will share what I am getting for my grandmother and mother. For my grandmother I am making her a purse and also a change purse. If I have extra money I will buy her a 10.00 gift card for Barnes and Nobel. For my mother I am making her a tote bag and am also buying her jewelry making tools, beads to make jewelry and some string. My mom has always wanted to make jewelry, but she never has the money to make anything so I know she will appreciate it.

Thats sounds wonderful and I'm sure your grandma and mom will love these gifts. However, I don't have time to make anything since I'm flying out on Tuesday to visit my daughters and their families for a month. So I need to order something before I leave here or from my daughters home. I just don't have a clue and it gets harder and harder every year.

I usually get her a garden ornament or plant if I have the money. Last year I got this nice bench where you can put planters on it.

My daughter made a photo album of a trip we took together. It is like going on the trip all over again. Maybe a photo album of your family. I did make a photo album of highlights of my mother's life with a page for each of her children. It did get pretty big as she had 9 children and 18 grandchildren.

That is something I could do in the future maybe for Christmas. As I don't have the time because I will be traveling on Tuesday and will be gone for a month. However, thanks for the idea because I can definitely use that idea for another time.

Oh yes, Mother's day is near, ahmm I suggest to buy her some jewelry with a card and before giving her your gift present her a cake with a caption "Happy Mother's Day" .. Mother's day is just happens once a year so we must celebrate it.

My mom is not into jewelry and I won't be able to visit her. I will be visiting my girls and their families for the entire month of May. I need to order something soon to get to her in Florida. I just don't have any ideas of what I can do to make it more special for her.

That is definitely what I would do if I lived in the same state as she. However, I will be in New Mexico at that time. We all live in different areas. I live in Puerto Rico, my parents in Florida and my girls in New Mexico with their families.

hi lelin1123! have you tried painting her picture? or coming up with a picture collage of her with you while you were still kids? no matter how many times you might have done it, putting old pictures and making it exist at present, will always be a good present to a mom who already have everything. i hope this would help. captured moments will forever be treasured :)ProfGail

I love this idea but unfortunately I don't have alot of picture of her or both of use together. At least I don't think I do I have to go through my pictures. Thanks for the idea its a good one. Gifts that are made are usually more appreciated.

saying i love you to your mother really counts or you may present a gift that you made on your own ,or just spend time with her cooking or something you love to do

We are not living in the same state. This is why its a problem especially when she has everything that a 77 year old women could need.
